There's no doubt that the economic climate in the UK is creating fear and uncertainty for a lot of business owners David Randall, but there are companies that need to grow and expand and willing to invest in senior people to do so. The bigger challenge for the job seeker is being seen in a busy marketplace, with application overload and AI, the best candidates aren't rising to the top. Exec headhunters are struggling to identify senior roles too. In marketing in particular, there seems to be a move away from CMO/VP/Senior Director roles to CRO and 'Growth' titles to lead the function. Add to this an incessant demand for sector experience, 'been there, done that' mentality, the field is reduced further. As ever, it's personal networks that will prevail for most job seekers.
Is it a self fulfilling prophecy? Posts about job scarcity, a tough market, uncertainty etc. result in more pessimism. Also, are some of these coming from people selling adjacent services? I see many posts from people celebrating their new job. Should we start boosting confidence by celebrating the wins?

6moUncertainty was my number 1 thought. AI is going rampant and do businesses know who they need to recruit for this new paradigm? The world is at war even if it's not open and has been for at least the last 10 years. Where do they invest for growth? Which market? India is rapidly growing. Elections EU, US and UK. Inflation dropping, shall we wait for interest rates to drop before borrowing to invest? The bold will march forward with a plan and adjust to the circumstances.
