Avoiding the overtake It’s massively important to have a sense on what’s going on when you’re driving / racing on track. You can’t always see your competitors (as they’re so close, or you’re turning a corner). But as a driver, you need to listen for other karts closing in on you. If you can’t hear them, then after a corner you can, you know that they’re carrying more momentum and whatever you’re doing isn’t working as well. So to avoid the overtake, change your approach and use your sense to see if the kart trailing you is still on your bumper or you’re now gapping them.

How to shorten the racetrack. In motor racing, drivers are always looking for ways to lower their lap times, and one way is to shorten the circuit. That doesn’t mean using the inside of the circuit around a full lap, as that tighter line will force the driver to corner slower in some parts. But there’s areas on a track where drivers can drive a more direct line, to save distance and this will make you faster. It’s always worth trying different lines in practice, watching the fastest drivers and seeing what works. These are the little 1%ers that will get you to the front of the field. Which side of the track to overtake? Typically if the driver you’re attempting to overtake is on the racing line, there’s more space to overtake on the inside of the driver. Reasons why: • More space to fit your kart in • That’s where the driver you’re overtaking is looking Sometimes you have no other option but to go to the outside, but where possible, choose the inside.

#GRRhistoric #video. For the years of Millen’s winning runs, Pikes Peak was still a gravel route. These days it’s a paved road, which very much changes the dynamic of this incredible car’s return. #goodwood #goodwoodelevenses The Goodwood Group #autos #autosport #automotive #automotiveindustry #automotiveinnovation #cars #racing #sports #classiccar #classiccars #motorracing #motorsport

Number 1 Tip for Braking in the Rain 🌧️ You DON’T need to brake on the outside of the track! This is where the rubber is (from the dry racing line), so when you hit the brakes, you initially lose rear stability. For inexperienced drivers it’s at this point they 💩 themselves, hold the brakes locked and spin backwards into the gravel. Brake inside the rubber line, gain more traction & improve your lap times! THICCC with 3 C’s baby! 🥵 Let’s talk about wide versus narrow tires, what’s the difference and what’s right for you?! When deciding on getting narrow or wider tires, a good rule of thumb is to increase the width based off of the weight of your car. Narrower tires will help with lighter cars when off-roading because the weight distribution will be more evenly spaced out through the contact pressure on the smaller surfaces of those tires! 🛞🛞🛞🛞 Narrow tires are also perfect for the casual off roader or overlander, that has to drive on the highway to work (trust me I get you there) and then hits the trails on the weekends! Now the THICCC-er you go, the more spread out that contact pressure will be, which decreases the amount of pressure per square inch. Wider tires will be better for rolling over big rocks or doing some crazy muffin, but they could hurt your gas mileage if you’re daily driving that car! Some great brands that will fill your tire needs include @bfgoodrichtires with their All Terrains K02’s, Some @mickeythompsontires Baja Boss’s, and @nittotire Ridge Grapplers! If you are needing a new set of tires for your next adventure, check out the link in the bio! 💥

My wife, Danna Van Noy, and I race a Porsche 991.2 Cup Car and coach each other after each event. Following our race with Porsche Owners Club (POC) at Buttonwillow Raceway, we thought it would be fun to narrate my race together, with her asking me questions like, "What were you thinking there?!" "Why are you getting passed??!!" We describe what goes through a racer's mind at the start, the first corner, and all the racecraft from start to finish. We cover tire degradation, driver fatigue, minimizing mistakes, capitalizing on others' mistakes, and driving at the limit for an entire sprint race.
