The secret to growing a business, particulary in a new market, is growing authentic relationships. That means figuring out what your constituents enjoy doing and forming bonds over those things. Thats why Hillcrest Bank joined others in support of ACG Utah’s inaugural Adventure Summit this past weekend. Our board combined efforts with ACG Denver and created a unique networking and deal making environment as capital providers, service professionals and operators descended on one of Utah’s treasures…….Moab! For those unfamiliar, Moab is maybe the worlds biggest playground. Home to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, Dead Horse State Park and endless trails and open vistas to lose yourself and find genuine people. Thats what the last couple of days was about…..the opportunity to ditch the boardroom for a mountain bike or the back of a Hummer! The Adventure Summit was an intimate and exhilarating experience to meet new people and strengthen bonds with others. If you weren’t there, I guess there’s next year😂😂😂! The premier Business networking event of the year just happened 😳🤯🙌! MountainWest Capital Network’s #Utah100 delivered in their 30th year. The event, which celebrates Utah’s fastest growing and largest businesses (thoroughly vetted!) attracts over 1,000 attendees and this years crowd was spirited! I always enjoy seeing how the teams that come to celebrate the recognition and accomplishments of their work families. Hillcrest Bank is honored to get to work with many of these companies on the list and we have made it somewhat of a tradition now that we host 6x honoree Strut Company at our table. Thank you to Utah Business for the invitation to include Hillcrest Bank at last month’s financial services roundatble. Hosted at the Stena Center for Financial Technology and moderated by Jane Barratt, the panel included many leaders from financial services around the State including Brock Blake from Lendio and Frank R. Pignanelli. It was interesting to learn more about the history around the expanded banking laws in Utah and how that paved the road for the industry expansion in our state and how that’s helped build this hotbed of FinTech development in our region. Despite being middle of the pack from a population perspective, we continue to be one of the best states in the country for banking, which also drives entrepreneurship and a business friendly environment. I wanted to take a quick minute to highlight two of our amazing leaders doing some great things in their respective markets. Hillcrest Bank believes our local leaders are the key to supporting our local markets and they thrive on being visible and active. Congratulations to Colette Chester Lentsch for being recognized as Idaho Business Review Excellence in Finance Honoree for 2024. Since joining our growing Boise team in early 2023, Colette’s passion for serving clients and her growth mindset continues to inspire me to do more every day. This is a tremendous distinction in that market and is a testament to how she shows up and leads. Doing Good in our communities! As mentioned last week our NBH Bank teammates (Community Banks of Colorado, Bank Midwest and Hillcrest Bank) were going to be out in force supporting our local communities for our inaugural Week of Doing Good. Here are some pictures from across our markets: Teammates in Colorado helping on a Habitat for Humanity of Colorado build. We helped put up siding on this house for a family and heard that all fingers and toes came back intact 😂 Teammates in Kansas supported Harvesters in Lawrence Kansas. The team there sorted food and helped meal kit. Teammates in St George helped out at Switchpoint Community Resource Center. Here our teammates helped the organization around the mission of empowering families and individuals address the underlying causes of poverty. Additionally we still have our donation bins in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah. Teammates in Utah County rolled up their sleeves and helped beautify Pheasant Brook Park for the City of Lindon. In addition to this work, our banking centers in Utah County have donation bin supporting Food and Care Coalition, please stop by and support if you’re in the area. Teammates in Idaho helped sort food at the The Idaho Foodbank. Almost 10,000 pounds of food to help feed families in the Treasure Valley. Proud to be part of a team that embraces the service mindset and an organization that supports these efforts. What a crazy day earlier this week at the ACG Utah Deal Makers Golf Tournament! After a gorgeous “chamber of commerce day” on the golf course we battled the elements, lost canopys and had to dry out…twice….by the fire in the clubhouse! BUT despite all that, we had a great time networking and building relationships and this was clearly one for the record books. I’m not sure the pictures actually do it justice to how wet and cold it was. And for those not in Utah, we had snow by the end of the day 😂 The team led by Ben Lonsdale and Meaghan Miller Gitlin did an amazing job rolling with the issues. I had a great time with the Hillcrest Bank foursome of me, Travis Yates, Nicholas Singleton and Cole Matson. I greatly appreciate the efforts of Melissa Mitchell, Julie Bibby and Jason Watson who tried to work the Hillcrest hole. We are rounding out the Business and Community Golf season here in Utah and the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament at Riverside Country Club did not disappoint! Hillcrest Bank was the drink cart sponsor this year and every player got a Scotty Cameron putter compliments of KSL NewsRadio!🙌🙌🙌. Set against the backdrop of Timp, the pictures don’t do it justice on just how great of a day it was yesterday. Appreciate Curtis Blair for all he and his team do to put on a fantastic gathering of the Utah County business community. It was great to connect with many familiar faces and meet so many new ones. I appreciated the opportunity to spend time with Daniel Donaldson, Wayne H. and Jacob Hoyt in our group. Jake did an amazing job representing the bank and volunteering to help pull this tournament off. This week NBH Bank and our family of brands kick off our inaugural Week of Doing Good. Our Hillcrest Bank Utah team “pregamed” on Thursday last week where we partnered with United Way of Utah County for a coordinated Day of Caring event with 20 of our teammates (more posts to follow!). Our entire bank (including Community Banks of Colorado, Bank Midwest & Bank of Jackson Hole) kicked off the week by hosting our annual #DoMore Challenge with a concert Friday evening and our CrossFit event Saturday. We provided over $120,000 to well deserving organizations in our communities! 🙌💪🙌 Throughout this week teams from across our markets will be engaging in community programs and events.
