Do you know how air is distributed with hot water baseboard systems? The water is heated by a boiler, and this is piped to “fin-tube” baseboard units that are mounted along walls. The fins increase the surface area of heat dissipation, making the unit more efficient.

The external flushing mechanical seal needs to be connected to cooling water. The water pressure is about 0.1 MPa and the flow rate is about 0.5l/s. It has two external water seal pipes: one for the water inlet and one for the water outlet. The cooling water circulates in the mechanical seal and will be drained from the water outlet. Cooling water is required to be clean and free of impurities. With hot water return systems ASHRAE suggests a 10 to 20 degree allowable heat loss (if you set your water heater to provide 120 degree hot water your return system would allow the pipelines to cool down to 100 degrees, at 20 degree heat loss). The heat loss on a 40 feet section of 3/4” pipe would require 0.14 gpm of return system flow at a 10 degree allowable heat loss. Most themostatic balancing valves have a 0.2 gpm minimum flow. Therefore, the balancing valve will always operate in a “closed” state when it is designed to automatically open wider when needed.
