You can now turn your application into an AI powerhouse in a few hours. If you are a developer who wants to build AI functionality into your application with as little effort as possible, this library is pretty magic, and it's open-source! Star this repository: https://lnkd.in/eHxrtNVE You can use this library in many different ways. Here are a few: • Add an in-app AI chatbot to your project • Build an AI agent (powered by LangChain and LangGraph) • Use an AI-powered smart textarea (AI autocomplete) • Build RAG, function calling and integrations Here is something super powerful about this: When you do the integration, the AI functionality will have access to the data from your application. You can use it as context for the model and have the AI act on your application! Their latest version uses GraphQL and implements React Hooks to customize the behavior of the AI behind the scenes. CopilotKit🪁 is open-source (MIT license). You can self-host it. You can use it with any LLM. Thanks to the team for showing me their tool and collaborating with me on this post!

Very interesting insights into how AI-generated code affects development. The costs are more subtle than they appear at first. Yes, AI productivity tools can increase the initial "lines-of-code velocity", but there are long-term implications. The main one is maintainability. Developers spend less time figuring out if there is existing or similar functionality in the legacy code base and just create essentially an AI-generated duplicate (in functionality but not literally). This makes the codebase lose its "theme" as its common code base diverges. With time, the code becomes less homogeneous, growing into technical debt. You might expect that rituals like code reviews would help alleviate this, but the data so far shows it's not the case. There is less borrowing from existing code bases when AI tools enter the chat. It's an interesting space to watch, as it's too early in the game to tell definitively what the long-term impact of these tools will be, if any. https://lnkd.in/eY9GrgjQ

When I was a developer, I would write 'Switch' statements or multiple 'If Then Else' blocks (or even use locator patterns) to help navigate the flow of logic through my code depending on user input. Google Gemini has built in "function calling" which utilises it's 'user intent' parsing capabilities to navigate the path through code blocks, through calls to LLMs and calls to datastores in real-time instead, so the flow is much more dynamic and not hard coded as a series of function calls. I wish I had this when I was a developer!! This is a really smart way of using Generative AI https://lnkd.in/dTs6vuMZ #genai #llm #functions

Schritt-für-Schritt Prozess für bessere Software-Planung | Eventmodeling risikolos einführen für Software-Teams | 10+ Jahre frustriert als Entwickler | Autor "Understanding Eventsourcing"
Don´t use AI to generate code. You are optimizing the wrong thing! Good code does not mean "it works", AI can do that perfectly well. It just doesn´t solve the real problem. Good Code for me is: - Easy to read (by humans) - Easy to understand (by humans) - Easy to extend (by humans) Writing good code requires empathy. AI can´t do that. And you know what? Writing the code is not the bottleneck in software projects. Never was. Why are we constantly trying to optimize this then? Most software projects spend the majority of their time in extension / maintenance mode (if they ever make it through the initial development phase). Using AI for code-generation might speed up the initial project-phase (some claim its 40%, I highly doubt it, I guess its more 10-20% if at all, but the real numbers don´t matter too much). This comes with a bad price you have pay later. And they only tell you when its too late. Maintaining AI-generated code is difficult. It slows me down, as I have to understand what the "thought-process" of this machine was at the time the code was generated. In this video, I´ll show you what I think is the real use case for AI. And how it help to speed up software plannning by 50% to 80%. We just launched our #accelerate program. Want to be an early adopter and use AI to solve the real problem? Lets talk! We are here to help. ----- The quiz example is stolen from Christian Thiel who presented this use case at AxonIQ Conference. I would solve the open question how to prevent the duplicate maintenance of events in typescript by using code generation of both backend and frontend directly from the Eventmodel. #eventmodeling #planning #ai
