FUNDRAISING UPDATE - €3k target passed and now at €5k. Thanks to those who have given so generously to date and this is the final push before I head off in September. **Making a Difference Together: Support My Journey from Paris to Nice for the Irish Cancer Society 🚴♂️** Hi everyone, As many of you know I am on the final countdown for the Paris2Nice 2024 challenge, not just for personal achievement, but to support the amazing work of the Irish Cancer Society. This cause is deeply personal to me, and I’m determined to make a significant impact. **Why Your Support Matters** The funds we raise will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society’s essential services and research. Together, we can truly make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. My goal was to raise €3,000 (we have already passed €5,000) and with your help, I know we can exceed this. **How You Can Help** **Donate:** If you’re able, please consider donating. No amount is too small, and every contribution gets us closer to our goal. Secure donations can be made through the ‘Donate’ button on my fundraising page: https://lnkd.in/eVZ9AZMr . **Spread the Word:** Share this post within your network. Awareness is powerful, and your share could be the key to reaching our fundraising target. **Engage:** Like, comment, and interact with this post. Your engagement boosts the visibility of this cause. I’m incredibly grateful for any support you can offer, whether it’s through donations, sharing this message, or simply sending words of encouragement. Thank you for considering supporting this cause. Hey Network 👋🏾 Every once in a while, I like to push myself out of my comfort zone for a great cause, and this time, it’s personal. Cancer has affected the lives of so many friends and family around me, and now it’s time to step up. In January, I’ll be competing in a Hyrox event, representing the amazing Macmillan charity. I’m teaming up with my partner-in-crime Carla Brault and together we’re going all out in the mixed pairs event to support those battling cancer. 🏅 For those who haven’t heard of Hyrox, here’s what we’ll be up against: 🏃🏾1km Run + 1000m Ski Erg 🏃🏾 1km Run + Sled Push (152kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + Sled Pull (103kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + 80m Burpee Broad Jumps 🏃🏾1km Run + 1000m Row 🏃🏾 1km Run + Farmers Carry (24kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + Sandbag Lunges (20kg) 🏃🏾1km Run + 6kg Wall Balls (75 reps) The running is a joint effort, whilst the exercises can be shared depending on individual strengths. Our goal? To finish the event in under 1 hour and 10 minutes, which would qualify us for the elite event! We’re training hard and aiming high, but confident we can achieve a qualifying time. We’re raising £800 as a team for Macmillan. If you’d like to make a difference and cheer us on, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/ePyNGqeu 💚 Every contribution helps, regardless the size🚀 #Hyrox #Macmillan #CancerCharity #Fundraising #HyroxJourney #EliteGoals

The work that charities do is priceless; an amazing shoulder of support for those that need it. Equally the work that people do voluntarily to create the opportunities to fundraise is just as is important and I’m so very proud of what my Father-in-Law has and continues to achieve. Never underestimate the value of either your financial contribution or your non-financial support to any charity. They need you and one day you may just need them. #payitforward
Probably one of the lesser used corporate benefits - charity fund matching. Such an important part for any business who can, to take responsibility and give back to the communities who support us. Something I’ve taken advantage of at HSBC every year for the last 22! I’m so incredibly proud of my dad, who, after losing two of his friends to their individual battles with cancer, decided to do something about it. Since 2003, we have walked every year (except 2020) in their memory, and he’s raised £211k over that time for various cancer charities, the main ones being Marie Curie, The Oesophageal Patients Association, Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK. Before he retired from his business, there were numerous business associates in his network who also supported with generous donations and by taking part. Some still do to this day despite his retirement 8 years ago. It must be hard for charities in times of economic hardship, which is why corporate support becomes so much more important. Importantly, for anyone who would like to donate (please do if you can!) here is the just giving link: https://lnkd.in/evtbCjhf For anyone who is interested, here is my Dad’s website, which is now maintained by my sister who had to learn how to do this from scratch after our much beloved friend and techy support passed away a few years ago. https://lnkd.in/ea3z6twU Thank you for reading. And, if you fancy joining us next year for a lovely jaunt around the Chatsworth country side with a welcoming Yorkshire bunch, the website will be updated with next years details soon! Work colleagues - beware - I’ll be hounding you next week!

Buckle Up for the Shitbox Rally (This Isn't Your Typical LinkedIn Post but who doesn't love a tax-deduction)! Let's be honest I don't normally post here about non-work related stuff and LinkedIn usually isn't the place for outback adventures and questionable vehicles, but here we are! Sal and I are undertaking the legendary Shitbox Rally this Winter. This epic challenge has us navigating the Australian terrain from Melbourne to Alice Springs – all in a glorious (questionable?) $1,500 "shitbox." There's more to the Shitbox Rally than just a quirky road trip. It's about raising crucial funds for the Cancer Council, Australia's largest community-led cancer fundraiser. Their Winter 2024 target alone is a staggering $2 million, and we're proud to be a part of it! Cancer touches far too many lives, and we believe in supporting research and critical services. ️ Each team needs to hit a minimum fundraising goal which we've already covered ourselves! Additionally, Cboe Australia through its charitable matching program has matched my personal contributions, so all round we are off to a great result. This means every single donation you make goes directly towards making a difference for the Cancer Council. Bonus: All donations of $2 and over are tax-deductible! Let's turn this outback adventure into a force for good. Consider donating to our team/Cancer Council and joining us on this crazy journey! https://lnkd.in/g9Z-jZ4f #ShitboxRally #CancerCouncil #DazeofThunder #OutbackAdventure #MakingADifference #nottaxadvice

🔔 *14 Years Strong: Help Team March of the Pigs Reach Our $1 Million Milestone!* 🔔 For the 14th year, my dedicated team, March of the Pigs, is participating in *Hogs for the Cause*, a nonprofit that supports families battling pediatric brain cancer. This year, we’re aiming to raise $250,000 – an ambitious goal that will push us over the $1 million mark in total funds raised over the years! We’re calling on sponsors and donors to help us make a real difference. Every donation goes directly to offsetting costs that insurance doesn’t cover for these families, and all contributions are tax-deductible. If you’re looking to give back, sponsor, or get involved, we’d love to connect with you! Let’s make 2024 a record-breaking year for families in need. 💙 #HogsForTheCause #PediatricBrainCancer #MarchOfThePigs #Fundraising #CorporateSocialResponsibility #Sponsorship #TaxDeductibleDonations #NonProfit #MakeAnImpact

Don't overlook the power of simplicity. This group just spent ~$525 to raise $18,000+ By the end of this year the FCSP Foundation will top $700,000 raised for pancreatic cancer research, and it gets executed with a simple idea. Here's a breakdown of the approach: 𝟭) 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲. Triathlons, walks, and golf tournaments have tons of moving parts: • Physically demanding • Lots of volunteers • Need permits • Expensive The FCSP Foundation bucked the trend, looking for a style of event that could get put up anywhere, easy to organize, and easy to participate in. Dunk tanks work perfectly. They're: • Have a small footprint • Cheap to rent • Fun! 𝟮) 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰. Over 50% of pancreatic cancer diagnosis come at stage 4, where the 5-year survival rate is 3%. When detected early, that survival rate jumps to 44%. It's the only research the foundation funds, and it's helping. The overall 5 year survival rate has tripled since 1998. 𝟯) 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 Sponsorships allow the foundation to pass 100% of funds donated by individuals to research. Hosts typically comp the space, donated a % of their sales for the day, and even donate the funds to cover some of the dunk tanks. Generous companies make matching donations to amplify the impact individual donors make. The tanks and water get delivered, but everything else fits in the back of a mid-sized SUV (with one seat down). Big gratitidue today for everyone who helped out with the event yesterday in Denver. We'll do it again in Richmond, VA next week! --------------- PS: Follow Troy Karnes for good vibes and mental health!

If you've been around our community for a little while and have tried to sign up for an Art Workshop, you may have noticed just how quickly spots fill up! Well, Cactus Cancer Society has a critical update for you! Our Art Workshops are filling up faster than ever, sometimes within minutes. We have a growing waitlist of young adults who are being turned away from the programs they want to join. We know you agree – placing young adults facing the darkest, loneliest days of their lives on the waitlist simply isn’t good enough. We are urgently seeking help funding additional Art Workshops. Before the close of our fiscal year at midnight on June 30th, we need to reach our $8,250 goal. It’s no small ask, but we need to provide 165 additional spaces to meet the increased demand for our Art Workshops in support of young adults as they navigate cancer. Cactus Cancer Society’s workshops foster connection, relieve isolation, and will always be FREE to young adults experiencing a cancer diagnosis. Time is running out! Would you consider making a donation today to help us expand our Art Workshops, clear the waitlists, and ensure young adults facing cancer get the support they need during their darkest, loneliest days with cancer?
