Inflation this morning continues to be a more stubborn foe than many have expected. This morning's CPI report showed that battle against inflation is continuing to be tough. Here are my takeaways from this mornings readings: 1) Bringing inflation from 9% to 4% has proven to be a lot easier than bringing its from 4% to the Fed's target of 2% 2) While Energy was one of the culprits for the February readings, for the previous 12 months Energy is actually down 1.9%, thus it has not been contributing to the high inflation over the last year 3) Wages are no longer keeping up with inflation, only up 1.1% for the past year showing weakness in the labor market. While I still believe a rate cut could happen this year, this data is not helping that those predictions of multiple rate cuts starting early in 2024. #CPI #inflation
