In this 2023, we have become accustomed to significant technological advances, but it is often forgotten that technology should be at the service of humanity to enhance and facilitate one's experience. In this project, we at Unikey Srl have created a navigable Digital Twin of the Subiaco abbey fortress, a monument rich in meaning and layers that tell its millennia-old story. A mapping was carried out in every environment, faithfully capturing every brushstroke on the frescoes or the smallest detail in the building. In this way, we have enabled a monument located in a not easily accessible context to be accessible from anywhere in the world. Given the lightweight nature of the application, it can be used through a web page in its WebGL version or through a virtual reality headset. In addition to expanding its target audience, this product has allowed for a snapshot frozen in time, enabling the visualization of the conservation status of the abbey in the decades to come. This, in turn, allows for potential restoration interventions to restore elements that will inevitably degrade over time. I am very satisfied to have been able to contribute by combining the knowledge acquired in the field of architecture during my university studies with my passion for innovation.
