As a nurse there are so many other options outside of clinical roles. Here are some of the coolest in my opinion: 1. Medical Device Industry: Step into a role where clinical expertise meets technology. Nurses here influence patient care through device education, liaison roles, or product development. 2. Legal Nurse Consulting: Merge nursing with law by helping legal professionals interpret medical information and evidence in cases. 3. Telemedicine Coordination: Facilitate virtual healthcare services by supporting patients and providers in the growing field of digital health. 4. Clinical Trial Management: Get involved in research by managing clinical trials, ensuring accurate data collection and participant care. 5. Occupational Health Nursing: Promote workplace health by preventing and managing job-related illnesses and injuries. These paths offer unique opportunities to apply your nursing skills in dynamic, impactful ways. Did you take a unique career path? What was is it?

Here’s a quick breakdown of the top four prior healthcare roles from recent data: 1️⃣ Medical Assistant (32.2%) – The #1 pathway! From taking vitals to supporting providers, MAs gain hands-on clinical experience that translates seamlessly into PA practice. 2️⃣ Nursing Assistant (31.0%) – CNAs bring unmatched patient care experience, mastering the art of bedside care and communication. 3️⃣ Medical Scribe (26.1%) – Scribes know the ins and outs of documentation and medical workflows, giving them a head start in clinical reasoning and terminology. 4️⃣ EMT/Paramedic (19.7%) – With real-world, high-pressure experience, EMTs and paramedics develop quick decision-making skills that are invaluable in any clinical setting. Team work is an essential component of academic and professional environments, as it allows individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives to collaborate and achieve common goals. effective team work requires a delicate balance of communication, coordination, and conflict resolution. Today, we assembled various resources for a mission. Leveraging our diverse expertise, we fulfilled a seemingly impossible and crucial request for a patient. This exemplifies the beauty of personalized medical service. We navigated challenges, deliberated rigorously, and weighed the risks and benefits… glad that we made it finally. The smile and gratefulness from the patient and family is unforgettable. This experience was tremendously inspirational for me. I learned a great deal from many leading experts in the field. I am truly thrilled to have led and witnessed such a beautiful mission, assisted by a group of compassionate professionals. * A senior general manager with extenssive icu nursing background who humble herself to contribute directly in the mission. * Excellent medical assistant officers who are so capable to execute almost everything i asked during the mission without hassle. * The whole team stand by me during the mission, follow me and never fail to receive my instruction no matter where i go ( where patient goes) * Patient and his caring families who trust us and care for us [Excuse me that i cant enclose any more detail related to this experience] I talk alot about hope, helping and teamwork. My whole message is that >> we are more powerful TOGETHER. #extramiles #simplynote

Can you be a Rebel Physician AND an employeed one? This happens to be my current status and a question I continue to ask myself. Can I really rebel against toxic medicine culture while in a traditional healthcare role? Isn’t this a slippery slope where my compassion and work ethic are weaponized against me? It might be too soon to tell. Here is how I am showing up rebelliously in the meantime: 1. I negotiated for fair compensation, to keep my brand separate from my employment and to continue teaching medical students on my own terms. 2. Open communication with administrators, physicians, nurse practitioners and midwives as the Laborist program rolls out. 3. Leaning into to difficult and uncomfortable conversations with lots of vulnerability and little ego. 4. Remaining unattached to my title at the “soul level” so boundaries remain intact. Knowing I can and will walk away if my values are compromised. 5. Listening to my intuition and constantly checking in with my energy level as I pursue various projects and committee responsibilities. 6. Being 100% myself no matter what role I am playing. From medical student preceptor to physician to colleague to boss to employee, everyone gets the same version of me. 7. Unapologetically declaring my vision for our department and that I want to play an integral role in training students and residents so that they create sustainable medical careers. I don’t do these perfectly every day, but they are my signposts. They keep me grounded when I’m tempted to be swept up by the chaos that is medicine. I love connecting with like minded physicians so if any of this resonated with you, please join the Rebel Physician community at www.RebelPhysician.com
