Hotels, yes please. Weddings? No thanks! 👰🏻 If you’re thinking of booking a photographer to shoot your hospitality business, then consider carefully what type of creative you book as, whether they advertise it or not, photographers tend to specialise. Most photographers fall into a particular niche either by accident or design. They target or start getting booked for a particular type of job then gain more experience of that industry leading to more work and experience, and before long they've become specialists. 🥼 And because 80% of business comes from 20% of clients, that’s where they tend to stay. There are a few exceptions. Some of my photographer connections on LinkedIn have completely changed niches and become very successful. 🧑🏻🍜 20 years ago, I changed from shooting news and features for newspapers and magazines to capturing interiors of beautiful holiday homes and hotels, which I now do exclusively. So If you think that your spaces would benefit from specialist treatment, let’s chat. Head over to my LinkedIn profile and book a call. I’d love to hear about YOUR speciality. 📞 Just don't book me to shoot your wedding! 🤵🏻 Are you hiring specialists? Love your dedication to specialising in capturing interiors of holiday homes and hotels!
David, your journey from shooting news to capturing interiors of holiday homes and hotels is inspiring. It's true that photographers tend to specialize, and your transition showcases the potential for growth and adaptation in this industry. Your expertise in hospitality photography is evident, and I admire your dedication to your craft.
Completely agree on specialization. I have photographed a few weddings, but I'm with you on this. While I love photographing people, doing weddings is not something I want to do all the time. And if you want to be a wedding photographer you definitely have to focus on being a wedding photographer.
Ha Ha, If I had a fiver for every time someone asked me 'Do you do weddings' I could retire comfortably.
I didn't realise you had changed from shooting news and features for newspapers. I am sure holiday homes and hotels are pleased you did.
Your journey from news and features to exclusively capturing the beauty of holiday homes and hotels is impressive.
You’ve explained it well and glad to have some of your career insights, too, David.
Specialist treatment shows in results. Nice one, David 😎
