I found this article and I really liked it because it says, “Police officers regularly make life-and-death decisions — instantaneously determining when to use force, why, and how much.” Which is true all the time. It's the decisions they have to make everyday and know how to handle the situation, but also determine how much force to use. Which in turn, is affected by total life experience. Over time, exposure to terrible things can skew officers’ abilities to gauge what “normal” behavior looks like, and they may start to see the world through an “us versus them”. Positive and negative life experiences may play a role in responses and reactions to situations. For example, if your first time learning to swim is fun and enjoyable, you will most likely view the memory as a positive one and relate swimming with good feelings. Similarly, negative life experiences, such as the traumatic death of a loved one, poverty, and/or food insecurity, may lead you to have your guard up or be frugal but they still deal with it and have a smile on their face and that doesn't affect them. This shows me how hard they work and how many things they go through but they still do it for safety and to help but also they help people and know how to handle hard situations but also all the challenges they get everyday and i'm so excited to become one someday and i look forward to it even tho there might be some ups and downs it's still one of my passions I want to do. https://lnkd.in/dKEeqqqU #alpinecteinterships #mountainlandcte Alpine School District CTE Internships

Law Enforcement Lesson of the Week (Bury Me in GA): Next week, I will be visiting the new class arriving at FLETC and the graduating classes who will be starting their careers in law enforcement in the next couple of weeks. I am very excited for the opportunity to meet those who have decided to dedicate the next two decades of their lives to protecting and serving our communities. As the "silver tsunami" approaches, with over a quarter of U.S. workers reaching age 55 or older by 2030, we need the incoming generation to embrace careers in law enforcement. Our society depends on officers to uphold the rule of law, which plays a significant role in retaining talent. I have learned through my experiences that the top reasons officers leave are bad bosses, other opportunities, and a loss of purpose. Our communities can assist our law enforcement officers in maintaining their purpose. This includes holding bad actors responsible for their actions. Law enforcement agencies must provide strong leadership and help officers maintain their sense of purpose in serving society. Agencies must also insist that their officers return home safely to their families every day - ethical policing does not mean soft enforcement. The new and graduating classes have an opportunity to shape the future of policing. I look forward to encouraging them as they take on this vital responsibility. With support from our communities, I believe these law enforcement professionals will have long, impactful careers keeping our society safe. The future depends on their success. #NCIS #purpose #ethics #lawenforcement #policing #criminalinvestigation #fletc #lawenforcementtraining #professionalgrowth #reshare

In my Talent Acquisition and Inclusive Hiring course taught by Laurie Murphy, I had the opportunity to research the revocation of affirmative action in higher education. If anyone is interested in learning more about affirmative action and how it has applied to the college application process give this article a good read. Being a college student I found this research to be very informative as there might be more to the application process than we think! Its never too early to start planning your career path. Pupils from Bearsted Primary Academy visited Invicta Court where they chatted with residents and colleagues about their previous and current careers. It was an interesting question and answer session for everyone involved, giving the children insight into the skills needed for each particular role. #invictacourt #fulfillinglives #trustedtocare #careuk #intergenerational https://lnkd.in/eE2MnaeE
