Mental Health Matters. Personal Well-Being Matters.

#NationalNursesMonth is celebrated throughout the entire month of May to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses. Here are the key details: National Nurses Month - Celebrated annually during the month of May - Initiated by the American Nurses Association (ANA) to promote the nursing profession - Allows for greater opportunities to promote understanding and appreciation of nurses' roles Weekly Focus Areas The month is divided into four weekly focus areas: 1. Self-Care (May 1-7): Cultivating mental health and well-being 2. Recognition (May 8-14): Honoring nurses who lead, excel, and innovate  3. Professional Development (May 15-21): Accessing resources for career growth 4. Community Engagement (May 22-31): Engaging with the community beyond the bedside National Nurses Week - Observed annually from May 6-12, ending on Florence Nightingale's birthday - First observed in 1954, expanded to a week in 1990 by ANA - Allows employers and individuals to celebrate their nurses The ANA selects a new theme each year to highlight nurses' roles and impact. For 2024, the theme is "Nurses Make the Difference" to honor nurses' positive impact on lives and healthcare. Nurses are recognized during this month for their vital roles in providing quality patient care, shaping health policies, and serving as trusted advocates for individuals and communities. #NurseMaketheDifference #WhyMercyMatters #MercyNursing #Hiring #CapeGirardeau #StLouis #MercyHospitals
