Around 50% of AmLaw 50 firms are set to bill third-year lawyers at $1,000 per hour next year. Shocking, right?! A recent Law.com article predicts further rate increases within BigLaw, with rates soaring to unprecedented levels. Despite existing client discounts, these rates are difficult to rationalize. For General Counsels and in-house legal teams crafting 2025 budgets, this information could be pivotal in advocating for expanding in-house teams and trimming external legal expenses. #LegalIndustry #LawFirms #InHouseCounsel #generalcounsel

Spot on, Stacy. In a recent lunch with the Head of Legal of a company anticipating significant growth in 2025, one topic of conversation was advocating for in-house hires and how to determine when your current headcount has reached its maximum efficiency. A key factor in determining this is identifying the inflection point when matters that should be handled by in-house counsel are being outsourced to external counsel due to volume. With the rising costs of big law firm hours, the expense of outside counsel grows exponentially the further you move beyond that maximum efficiency point.

In an alert, co-authors Thomas H. Lee, William Stein and Tyler Bloom analyze the impact of this decision on future litigation and assert this is “a significant event and opens up diverse new avenues for challenging federal administrative regulations.” Read the alert: https://lnkd.in/eEbGGwzK
