The National Theatre Effectiveness Conference took place today hosted by the National Perioperative Patient Pathway Enhancement Programme (NPPPEP). The NPPPEP is a collaborative initiative with the RCSI which supports optimal use of theatre capacity in participating hospitals in our 6 Health Regions leading to increase in overall theatre effectiveness, theatre throughput and will ensure procedures are undertaken in the most effective locations within hospitals. The additional capacity can be utilized to reduce surgical waiting lists. Sites who engaged in the programme to date have already demonstrated 5% to 20% increase in throughput.
