As Michigan continues to face record high winter temperatures, Governor Gretchen Whitmer urged Michigan small businesses impacted by lack of snow to apply for federal funding from the Small Business Administration (SBA). Amid the warmest winter on record, with days in February and March topping 60 degrees, federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available because of ongoing federal drought declarations affecting 42 Michigan counties. Good news for those Wisconsin businesses needing more time to apply for loans, if they suffered economic injury from the lack of snow! Today, the governor and U.S. Sen. Baldwin announced an application deadline extension for many drought disaster declarations issued for Wisconsin. This application deadline would be extended to at least July 31, 2024, and would cover a majority of counties that are currently covered under disaster declarations. This extension does not apply to Buffalo County, which is currently covered as a contiguous county through a Minnesota-based declaration. Note that some counties are covered under multiple declarations and, as a result of the deadline extension, will now have the same July 31 deadline. A business may apply under any of the declarations covering the county in which they are located so as long as the application is submitted before the deadline. If your business suffered economic injury as a direct result of the drought/lack of snow, including losses related to reduced winter tourist activity in the area, you are eligible to apply for the U.S. Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) program. Gov. Evers Announces Support is Available for Many Northern Wisconsin Businesses Affected By Lack of Winter Snow. (ADDITIONAL COUNTIES NOW ELIGIBLE). The U.S. Small Business Administration Office of #DisasterRecovery and Resilience today announced the opening of two Business Recovery Centers in #WestVirginia to meet the needs of businesses who were affected by severe #storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides that occurred Aug. 28-30, 2023. The #disaster declaration covers Boone, Calhoun, Clay, Harrison, and Kanawha counties in West Virginia, which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs): Barbour, Braxton, Doddridge, Fayette, Gilmer, Jackson, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Nicholas, Putnam, Raleigh, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor, Upshur, Wetzel, Wirt, and Wyoming in West Virginia. Interest rates are as low as 4% for businesses, 2.375% for nonprofit organizations, and 2.5% for homeowners and renters, with terms up to 30 years. Interest does not begin to accrue, and monthly payments are not due, until 12 months from the date of the initial disbursement. Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial condition. To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, applicants should register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA mobile app. If online or mobile access is unavailable, applicants should call the FEMA toll-free helpline at 800-621-3362. Those who use 711-Relay or Video Relay Services should call 800-621-3362. Applicants may apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information at sba.gov/disaster. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that Newport County is now included in the disaster declarations in Rhode Island for the severe storms and flooding that occurred on Dec. 17-19, 2023 and Jan. 9-13, 2024.   The disaster declarations cover Kent, Providence, and Washington counties in Rhode Island, which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs): Bristol and Newport in Rhode Island; New London and Windham in Connecticut; and Bristol, Norfolk, and Worcester in Massachusetts. New Post: Georgia SBA Disaster Loan Deadline for Storm Damage Nears - https://lnkd.in/gtUWmHyP - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is encouraging businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Pennsylvania to apply for economic damage assistance due to the flash flooding and severe storms that struck Berks County on July 9, 2023. The deadline to apply is June 28, 2024. This disaster declaration includes Berks County and the adjacent counties of Chester, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Schuylkill. The SBA provides Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to help cover working capital needs caused by the disaster. These loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations. Importantly, this assistance is available whether or not the business suffered physical property damage. Eligible businesses and organizations can apply for loans up to $2 million, with interest rates set at 4% for small businesses and 2.375% for private nonprofit organizations. The loan terms can extend up to 30 years, with loan amounts and terms determined by the applicant’s financial condition. Additionally, interest does not accrue, and payments are not due until twelve months after the first loan disbursement. Eligibility criteria include the size of the applicant, type of activity, and financial resources. These working capital loans can be used to cover fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that could have been paid had the disaster not occurred. However, these loans are not meant to replace lost sales or profits. Applications can be submitted online, and additional disaster assistance information is available at SBA.gov/disaster.
