The Daybreak Health team is honored to now be serving students and families in Illinois! Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 and McHenry School District 15 have brought teletherapy services to their districts, provided at no cost to families. “We want it to be a collaborative partnership not only with Daybreak but also with the families,” shared District 47's Director of Social Emotional Learning, Kristin Schmidt. She added, "students can’t come to school and be ready for academics without having all of those primary needs met, and that mental health piece is essential for that.” Thank you for the feature, Northwest Herald. #youthmentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #illinois #schoolbasedmentalhealth #teletherapy https://lnkd.in/eEhn3dSf

I hope traditional schools pay attention! So many of their practices top the list of things that are detrimental to kids. Stop complaining that everyone is going to charter schools or turning to homeschooling. Note that most of us start out putting our kids in your schools, but then leave. Mental health was my reason for pulling my kids out. My education philosophy was my reason for pulling myself out. How about you? Despite the clear benefits, most schools lack universal mental health screenings. The lack of screening affects our youth's well-being, especially in an era of rising mental health challenges. Mental Health screenings should be mandatory so that we can intervene and help our students feel connected, safe, and well-supported. #MentalHealthAwareness #EducationPolicy #StudentWellbeing #SchoolPsychology #EdWeek #schoolleaders #mentalhealthmatters https://lnkd.in/gJkHUxHk

I'm a huge proponent of education and have a passion for health/wellness. Our workplaces need to focus more on psychological safety and well-being. This article talks about how schools can incorporate mental health support into their programs. These are very similar strategies for implementing mental health support into our workplaces. I love love love the idea of starting with children. Give them the skills today that they can lean on as they grow and have in their toolbox as an adult. https://lnkd.in/e7ZWXM9Y

Is there such a thing as a good amount of stress and a bad amount of stress? What does stress do to you or your students? As I think about the stress I feel or have felt, I have come to realize that stress can motivate and inspire me to grow, improve, and even overcome. Identifying when the amount of stress you feel is too much is a critical step in maintaining quality mental health and sustained performance. Asking for help does not weaken you or diminish the reward of success, it improves it! Isn't it better to have all of those amazing people supporting you at the finish line? Trust me, it is so much sweater! Check out how a school in Washington State is addressing student stress and overwhelm. I am so happy teachers and administrators are taking action to help students be their best selves. #mentalhealth #clayfulhealth #k12 #k12schools https://lnkd.in/gFTpeZ9W

Schools across the country are facing a mental health crisis, with a shortage of over 100,000 mental health staff. According to a Washington Post article from last August, students are in need of one mental health therapist for every 250 students, but many schools don't have enough staff to meet this demand. This shortage makes it even more important for mental health professionals to prioritize their own self-care and well-being, as well as supporting each other. We cannot afford to lose any more professionals due to burnout or other issues. Check out the article in the link below to learn more about this pressing issue and what can be done to address it. Let's work together to support mental health professionals and ensure that our schools have the resources they need to provide the care that students deserve. #behavioralhealth #schools #mentalhealth #humanservices https://lnkd.in/ervcT-Vx

Programs we take advantage of today that seem like the norm, like afterschool care, affordable breakfast and lunches, and summer food programs -- not the standard only a few decades ago -- make a notable impact on the health and wellbeing of students. To support student and educator mental health and wellness, we must move mental health programs from a luxury to the standard in schools. #mentalhealthawareness https://lnkd.in/exUzkwre
