This is particularly true in manufacturing where work schedules tend to be much more rigid and driven by things like seniority. I think this is a big reason why manufacturers have struggled to attract and retain millennials and Gen Z. Manufacturers should embrace concepts like shift swapping which can give front line employees more control over their work schedule. This will require a solution that ensures the needs of the business are met as well, such as skills and certification tracking.
