Wait. Are companies catching onto "mouse jigglers"? What is a mouse jiggler, anyway? A mouse jiggler, also known as a mouse mover, is a device or software that simulates mouse movement to keep a computer active and prevent it from going into sleep mode, standby mode, or screensaver mode. Mouse jigglers can be physical gadgets that plug into a computer or external power source, or they can be apps that are installed on the computer. https://lnkd.in/gdRmUbQH

Let’s talk about your monitor setup. 🖥 Wouldn’t it be nice to have more time in the day to get your work done? Well, if the majority of the work you do is on a computer, we may be able to help! Most people, when working on a laptop 💻 or a desktop 🖥, don’t think about how having a monitor with a better resolution, or a second (or third) monitor, in their computer setup could increase productivity. Fun fact 😁! It has been reliably discovered that utilising multiple monitors increases productivity; when using two monitors, it has been reported to improve productivity by 35.5%, with having three monitors boosting productivity and efficiency even further! Having monitors of a higher resolution also increases the space you have to work and makes it easier to view multiple applications at once, saving you from the tedious task of flipping back and forth between applications. Imagine how much more work you and your staff could do in this time! Do you feel that you would benefit from having multiple monitors or a better resolution monitor? If so, contact us at iZan Business Solutions for advice on what could be a good option for you, or to hear how we could help boost your productivity! ✉ Email: enquiries@izan.co.uk 📱 Telephone: 01522 405833 #itsupport #productivity #monitors

ICT Leader | Disability Advocate | Mentor | Coach | Authentic, innovative and supportive Leader delivering transformation.
This is an interesting and thoughtful insight into how you measure the effectiveness of your ICT department. The key is to get everyone back up and running as quickly as practically possible to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation. What other measures would you take to drive greater efficiencies, factoring in the organisational diversity, culture, hybrid working, and those with additional needs but ensuring your statutory and security compliance? Experiences like this often show human side of the organisation and how important all members of an ICT department are with their unique skill sets and customer focus.
My laptop died. The battery failed. One of the things that interests me most when looking around other IT departments and talking to customers of in-house IT departments is how service is measured and valued. The pertinent question being "How long till I can get back to work?". I have to confess to having a few advantages; - I was on site - I am the boss - I work online on web based systems - The department has had 6 years to get slick. The general experience went like this. The engineer had a look and saw it wasn't charging. They checked the wall plug (from experience!) = working. They tested the charger = working. They tried another charger = laptop not charging. I was offered a replacement laptop. I was asked what additional software I needed installing = none. I took it and left with a replacement laptop. Not a new one, not a fancy one, but I was working. In the background they've logged a call, opened the laptop up, ordered a spare part, arranged for the work to be done and lots of other things to add to the history of that device and the collective experience of that batch of devices. I know this happens, I'm glad I know as the leader, I don't care as the laptop owner. I am now a statistic. I stopped working for 6 minutes because my IT service let me down. 6 minutes on the "combined waste" daily total. 6 great minutes of hanging out with my staff and watching the service be a service. #ITSM #AspirationallyIdle #ServiceDesk #CombinedWait

Power Down for Peak Performance: The Benefits of Shutting Down Your Laptop! Many users simply close their laptop's lid at the end of the day. This action puts the laptop into sleep mode, which is quick and convenient. However, it's better to turn off your laptop properly. Shutting down your laptop offers several benefits. It improves performance by clearing temporary files, closing unnecessary processes, and refreshing the system. This optimizes performance and ensures resources are available for your next session. Additionally, it conserves power and reduces energy consumption, promoting energy efficiency and extending your laptop's battery life. Shutting down enables important system updates and maintenance tasks, keeping your operating system and software up to date, enhancing stability and security. It also prevents overheating by allowing internal components to cool down, reducing the risk of damage. When you shut down, you disconnect from networks and close active sessions, increasing security and protecting against unauthorized access or data breaches. Regularly shutting down your laptop can contribute to its longevity by giving hardware a chance to rest and minimizing wear and tear. Remember to save your work before shutting down to avoid losing any unsaved data. It's a small reminder of how our work can impact our well-being in subtle ways. My setup. If this is my most popular post, I will be entertained. :P My office has incredible wood paneling. It's a bit cooler than the pictures show because it has great built-in shelves and looks out in my backyard. It came with the house. I especially like it because it 'fits the image' of an Executive. My work stuff is the middle laptop and big monitor. I went with a hi-res single monitor (Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved WUHD Monitor - U4021QW) instead of dual or triple and like it. Your monitor setup should reflect the work you're doing, and this fits my workflow well. My Macbook and 4k monitor are on the right. I mounted a Blue Yeti microphone with a pop filter above my monitor because people I trust said to :P I speak loudly, so there are no issues there. With the single monitor, I also put LED lights with little remotes down on the work surface. I use the speakers built-in to the monitor, and they work well enough. I use a 4k webcam mounted just above the laptop as well. I started standing for work years ago and am unsure I can articulate myself sitting down anymore. :P I like to gesticulate and move around a little. I don't generally wear shoes, and the thick pad provides sufficient comfort. Most agree that standing is healthier than sitting as well. I didn't set out to use pictures in all my posts :) I wrote all the posts and was about to put them in a queue (Buffer - $6/month) when someone reached out and told me that adding pictures adds impact. I had just had professional headshots done and had about the same number of images and posts … so I went with it. I got used to it, and it humanizes me; I'm just a dude who might be right or wrong and sincerely wants to engage and improve. It also means I have random contacts at events, which is fun. :P The 'next round' of pictures will probably include other environments. The only other thing of note is some of the tech stuff. I have dual ISP with failover. I use an EdgeRouter 4 and a cell hotspot as the backup link, so it's a little expensive but worth it. Everything is on a battery backup and a whole-house generator, so I don't miss a beat if the power goes out. #informationsecurity #riskmanagement #cybersecurity #ciso #cyberinsurance
