“Being a Period Positive Workplace was only natural for our organization,” said a Dignifica representative. DIGNIFICA TU VIDA I. A. P. Tu Vida, an organization dedicated to serving Indigenous women and children in Mexico, recently became a Period Positive Workplace. Since becoming a certified PPW, Dignifica has adopted a more conscientious approach to collaborating with women, learning about menstrual health, and normalizing the conversation around periods. These are all steps that promote gender equality. Creating a menstrual-equitable environment takes time. “Part of the process is learning, not imposing,” commented a Dignifica representative. They also noted that becoming a PPW has increased communication in their organization and created a more respectful environment. “It is better for everyone to be in a workplace that acknowledges it [menstruation].” Read the full Period Positive Testimonial here! https://bit.ly/3SlhKqD

Empowering Men is a vital key to achieving gender equality in #unpaidcare work ! This blog sheds light on steps to address a critical barrier to increasing women's participation in the #workforce: the unequal distribution of unpaid domestic work. Studies estimate it could take up to 92 years to achieve gender equality in this area unless we take decisive action now. It is imperative that policymakers, the private sector, businesses, educational institutions, media and all other stakeholders come together to promote shared responsibility at home, to not only support women's economic participation but also enrich the caregiving experience for men. Within this framework, men play a crucial role in fostering safe and inclusive spaces for women—a responsibility that requires commitment, understanding, and action. At the #BrunchWithNoma2024 with the theme “Beyond Boundaries”, the discussion on coexistence will aim to highlight the need for men to be proactive allies in the journey towards gender equality. According to a recent study from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, "Even when a woman completes the same amount and quality of work in 40 hours as a man does in 60 hours, the man will receive greater rewards." In the workplace, time is often rewarded over quality of work, and this is especially the case for women, and even beyond that, working moms tend to see it most! Face time is often used as a benchmark for success, while efficiency is penalized. We need to make output quality the goal if we hope to see real gender equality in the workplace. #GenderEquality #Equality #WomensEquality
