“Black students I’ve talked to are (now) experiencing more anti-Black hate speech than in my 33 years of teaching in schools…We are backwards from where we were.” (Erin Jones). As the parent of a young, Black, male student, I fear the course we are on. It can - and needs to - be better. Now more than ever, organizations such as the A4LE-Association for Learning Environments can be invaluable if they have strong initiatives in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging at all levels (as they once did). These inform us about the broad spectrum of issues so vital to the clients, communities, and students we serve and how we as school design professionals can help provide design and planning-based solutions. Until this day Blacks deal with redlining. But somehow another group has shown a need for some type of immediate change, and got it. When it comes to Black people racism becomes this abstract thing. Something we have grown out of because we had a mixed president. There’s so many layers. While I do think they should have disclosed their relationship and that it's probably best to recuse themselves, the outrageous questions about whether Wade "visited you where you laid your head" was insulting and meant to humiliate her. The questions were blatant attacks that are often used to undermine the credibility and professionalism of Black women even when their non-Black counterparts engage in similar behavior without repercussion. Unfortunately these unfair attacks often revolve around three strategies: 1. Attempts to paint us as incompetent and under qualified "Diversity hires" or beneficiaries of Affirmative Action despite any evidence to the contrary. 2. Attempt to paint us as overly aggressive/loud/angry, despite similar personality traits of non-Black professional women, and also at times despite provocation. 3. Morally unworthy, hypersexual and promiscuous. Often even the mere act of sharing the same physical space with a male colleague is conflated to not only "prove" the existence of an inappropriate sexual relationship, but in some cases it is also used as malicious, retaliatory justification by other males in the workplace to subject Black women to harassment and/or retaliation for not being interested in their sexual advances. Specifically on his poor word choice when describing VP Kamala Harris. There's a really good lesson in their commentary especially over Kamala Harris' qualifications and accomplishments. Also, David Chalian makes a great point about Trump accusing Harris of the very thing that he did. (Truly rich indeed). True, I have no knowledge of Matt Mowers' political experience but no matter, one thing is consistent, Republicans will say whatever it takes to drive their racist agenda even if they may not be aware of what they're saying. This is a good segment for white employers who truly want to understand their black work force. And to them I say, we (black Americans) have always known that we have to work twice as hard to prove ourselves in contrast to our white counterparts. This is fact. Our education and experience are often set to a much higher standard to even be considered. Question, if Donald Trump were any other guy, would you turn over the keys to your operation to him? Take your time with the answer, I got all day... DEI = DIVERSE - EDUCATED and INTELLIGENT. Don't get it twisted.

During his 2020 campaign, Joe Biden (a white man) told a black man that if a black person didn't vote for him that "you ain't black." So many (but not all) black voters voted for him. And now we have Kamala, and the same divisive, racist tactic is being used. It is both naive and WRONG to believe that ALL of the people in any group of people (regardless of race, color, gender or culture) will think or behave exactly the same. Animals do that. Human beings do not. So, PLEASE watch, listen to and consider this brilliant conversation so that you do not get fooled again.
