How the Internet Works? 1. Connecting to the Web Your device (computer, phone, etc.) connects to the internet through an internet service provider (ISP). The ISP acts as a bridge between your local network and the larger internet. 2. Breaking Down Data When you send information over the internet, it's first broken down into smaller packets. These packets contain the data itself, as well as addressing information so they know where to go. 3. Routing the Packets Routers are the traffic cops of the internet. They receive packets and based on the addressing information, figure out the best path to send them to their destination. This can involve hopping through multiple routers across the globe. 4. Reaching the Destination Once the packets arrive at their destination, they're reassembled back into the original data. This could be a web server holding a website, an email server, or another device. 4. Sending Information Back The process works the same way in reverse when you receive information online. Your device sends a request, packets are sent and routed, and then reassembled for you to use. #internet #web
