Last week, DB E.C.O. North America helped organize a program for a bipartisan delegation of legislators and transit stakeholders from Illinois visiting Germany to explore best practices for the Chicago region's transit network. The group focused on how German cities successfully integrate networks, timetables, and fares to create unified public transit systems. Overall, this visit highlighted the importance of collaboration and shared knowledge in addressing the complexities of modern transit systems, including with Deutsche Bahn. We look forward to continuing to foster this transatlantic dialogue to transform the future of mobility.

Representatives from 29 European countries, including 24 present on-site, gathered in Uppsala for this year’s second IRG-Rail Plenary Assembly under the Swedish Transport Agency’s chairmanship. Over the past two days, we’ve engaged in intensive and constructive discussions, resulting in several significant decisions for the future. Key outcomes include: ✔️ Agreement on a new four-year strategy to guide our future work. ✔️ Adoption of a position paper on the “Capacity Regulation” (EU COM(2023/443)), an important step towards promoting the efficient use of rail capacity in Europe. ✔️ Finalization and approval of five important reports, all contributing to the development of a Single European Railway Area. It’s truly inspiring to see the strong commitment and collaboration among representatives from across Europe – all united by the goal of creating a more competitive, sustainable, and integrated European railway sector.
