Last week, Sergej Kramer, Principal in our Management Consulting Team, represented DB E.C.O. North America in a panel discussion at the German Californian Mobility Dialogue in Los Angeles, CA. The conversation focused on how the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles could accelerate clean transportation initiatives through infrastructure development, smart city technologies, and public-private partnerships. Sergej provided insights into how we help our clients shape the rail network in Southern California and which lessons learned from Deutsche Bahn in Germany could be applied. A special thank you to the other panelists and to GACC WEST - Representative of German Business for hosting and facilitating this discussion.

We are hosting the TSMO event today at Heenway Hall, Room 211, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. TSMO is a set of strategies that focus on operational improvements that can maintain and even restore the performance of the existing transportation system before extra capacity is needed. Some Highlights of the event include: 1. Why TSMO and why does it matter to state, regional, and local agencies? 2. Demonstrate how TSMO has evolved, supported by ITS, and continues to evolve from a traditional operations and maintenance mindset. 3. Share how institutional and organizational processes help mainstream and support proactive and resilient operations practices. 4. Promote the use of innovative data sources, like crowdsourcing, and how it can be leveraged to advance strategic and tactical project development and system performance outcomes. 5. Understand the various capacity building resources available, as well as grants and program funds to support TSMO related deployments Attached flyer shows the examples of integrating TSMO across a transportation agency.

What is the future of #rail in #California and which projects are most critical to realizing a more interconnected #regional and #state rail network? Looking forward to moderating this great panel at University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business with Adam Van de Water from Transbay Joint Powers Authority, Morgan Galli from California High-Speed Rail Authority, and Brian Soland from BART and Link21 rail as part of the Haas Transportation & Mobility Club Mobility Summit 2024. A key question: Do we need to reimagine any projects and/or adjust how to make the case for new investments in #transit capacity (especially given the looming #publictransit fiscal cliff which threatens existing transit service/operations)?
🚆 All Aboard the Future of Rail! 🚆 Excited to announce our “Reimagining Rail” panel at the Berkeley Haas Mobility Summit 2024! Join leading transportation experts as they discuss innovative approaches to modernizing and expanding rail infrastructure in the US. 🗓 Date: November 15th ⏰ Time: 1 PM 📍 Location: Spieker Forum, Haas School of Business Panelists include: • Brian Soland – Acting Director, Link21, BART • Morgan Galli – Northern California Deputy Regional Director, California High-Speed Rail Authority • Adam Van de Water – Executive Director, Transbay Joint Powers Authority • Egon Terplan – ITS Senior Fellow, UC Berkeley Scan the QR code to register and be part of the movement toward sustainable, efficient transportation! 🔗 Register: https://lnkd.in/gedCTzaj

Every breakthrough begins with a question. What if our roads could heal themselves? What if every journey was completely automated, every trip optimised, every mile sustainable? What if we made transportation so easy that communities prosper, and we enter a new economic golden age? What if infrastructure wasn't just built, but evolved with society? Today's innovations become tomorrow's foundations. From smart pavements, to transport corridors that generate clean energy, to intelligent systems that adapt in real-time to community needs. This isn't ‘head-in-the-clouds’ thinking. This is happening now. At the NTRO International Technical Conference, global leaders gather to share new and transformative solutions. Where research meets reality. Where ideas become real impact. 🗓️ Conference Dates: May 7-9, 2025 📍 Location: Port Melbourne Register Today 👇 https://hubs.li/Q033CLnD0

Thanks to the Railway Industry Association for its 'Unlocking Innovation' conference attended by 400+ delegates in Birmingham yesterday. It's clear our industry is brimming with talent and ideas to make our railway fit for the future, and it'll be a challenge made easier by events like these bringing experts, innovators, engineers and decision makers together. We hope our Network Rail speakers Christian Irwin OBE, Kamini Edgley, James Heslop, Susan Millington MBA ChPP FCMI CMgr RPP MAPM, and Tara Walsh were able to give invaluable insight into how new ideas can grow and thrive in our business. We were proud to partner with Telent Technology Services Ltd and UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) for the 2024 events (this one snuck into 2025!) and look forward to the year ahead. Watch our video on the event - featuring Richard Carr, Susan Millington MBA ChPP FCMI CMgr RPP MAPM, Jenny Cooke CEng MICE, Aditya (Adi) Verma from Sensonic and Ameet Masania from Central Rail Systems Alliance 📺

In Edinburgh today joining the joint hubs event on achieving resilient freight electromobility as part of our contribution to TransiT Digital Twinning for Transport Decarbonisation - fascinating range of opinions / discussions on the table, from a rail perspective we see ourselves as a long distance mode with road for the last mile but interesting to get perspectives from others around removing traffic from roads in urban settings etc. Understanding the policy drivers is clearly going to be a big part of this puzzle.
