Always good insights DBDH. One thing I would add is that district heating is able to harness warmer sources of heat than individual heat pumps which is inferred in the article but it isn’t explicit. Night time use (off peak) is when the air is coldest. A disadvantage of ASHP. Still better than gas. I’d also emphasise the ability of centralised district heating to provide cooling. Data centres are a huge reality of our generation. No comment on the usefulness of some applications. What we have to do with these and any hydrogen electrolysers is think about the location and design so we harness heat at the highest grade in the best location. Sector coupling will need to be a massive part of GBEnergy. Waiting for this aspect to be emphasised in the UK. No obvious news as yet with various boards etc seeming to ignore big heat pumps…..but I have faith in Chris Stark as he’s always been a big fan of Queens Quay and the like. #sectorcoupling I’ll publish in due course a piece of work I mentored showing the coupling of wind, power generation, heat demand by one of the Edinburgh Napier University students last year. Common sense proven by data. https://lnkd.in/eKJTV5PJ

Excellent energy savings story coming out of Grandview, Washington! >>> "Accordingly, many cities are focusing on saving energy and improving environmental performance. In Grandview, Washington, treatment plant superintendent Dave Lorenz and his crew did exactly that. Their efforts recently culminated in the form of a check for $146,964 from the local power company’s energy-saving incentive program... The city expects the mixers to pay for themselves in two years from energy savings. Factor in the $147,000 incentive check and the payback is closer to one year. That savings will help pay for a future update already being planned." #SolarBee #GridBee #efficientmixing #aeration #energysavings

Independent Researcher, Clean Energy, Leading to climate change solved. Affirm any kinetic motion is converted to heat naturally. The reverse is correct but needs particular care using special tools which have a cost.
What world are we living in? We hear about reducing consumption, reasoning, overtaxing large consumers, etc., and yet the offer has never been so important and cheap. For this, we must abandon Sadi Carno's double heat. With the Kneider's Hydrothermal engine. Electrification has inexhaustible sources of free primary energy, which can be found in all surface waters on the planet and in ambient air, including oceans, seas, lakes, etc. We are ending dependence on coal, fuels, wood, gas, heat engines, steam turbines, repositioning, transportation, heat pumps, heating, cooling, and refrigeration. This is a technology that could transform almost everything about our society, in Europe and the whole world.<https://lnkd.in/eCzsf2TZ
