Having lived in a Navy town these last few years, this significant shift caught my Air Force eye. I would add data is the coin of the realm in 21st century warfighting and the pathway to Information Advantage. To do this requires software strategies and application of that strategy that can be applied at speed and scale. Undoubtedly it will come with challenges, “the parable of the sail and steam” is well stated. Seeing the Navy pivot from a historically platform centric approach to this model will be interesting no doubt, and will only make the greatest Navy on the planet that much more lethal. https://lnkd.in/dPVdZ56x

In an era where technology defines dominance on the global stage, the United States Navy stands at a pivotal juncture, reminiscent of the monumental shift from sail to steam. Today, the transformation revolves around embracing software-centricity, a move underscored by Admiral Lisa Franchetti's insightful "America's Warfighting Navy" address. The narrative isn't just about hardware anymore; it's increasingly about the software that integrates these capabilities seamlessly into the fleet, enhancing operational agility and strategic foresight in an unstable geopolitical landscape. As we navigate this digital transformation, the call to action is clear: to prioritize software as the cornerstone of naval dominance. With a steadfast commitment to innovation and excellence, the Navy can set new benchmarks in maritime superiority, ensuring a legacy that withstands the test of time. The time to act is now, with purpose and urgency, as we steer towards a future where software not only complements but powers America's Warfighting Navy. #usnavy Thank you Justin Fanelli, Ron Boxall, and Bryan Clark for collaborating!
