I’m back with ANOTHER exciting new feature in dbt Cloud: job chaining 🔗 ICYMI, this is Sara Gawlinski, taking over dbt Labs’ LinkedIn to bring you all the latest product spotlights and updates. Let’s face it, the old ways of getting trusted data across your DAG and to your stakeholders just aren't cutting it anymore. Relying on cron jobs and manual configs is inefficient, burns through compute resources, and eats up your data team's valuable time. Good news: dbt Cloud just got a major upgrade in automatic orchestration 🎉 With job chaining, you can trigger jobs to run automatically as soon as an upstream job successfully completes, even across projects. Flip the toggle, sit back, and watch your stakeholders get the insights they need—without you lifting a finger. 🤸♂️ Watch the demo video to see just how easy it is to get started.
It's a great feature and we are using it from day one acros projects to solve some overlapping jobs. A good addition might be an overview/lineage page of the connecting jobs 😀
Excellent addition that is needed to support a complex work environment with models in multiple projects
This is another awesome feature added in dbt.
That's great! However, we trigger our jobs via API calls, and I don't think we'll get notified if the second (chained) job failed, right?
