**DATE UPDATE** the Anchoring Growth and Change Convening at William & Mary has been moved to March 13th. See you then! Behind every successful initiative, there's a web of meaningful connections. ✨ As we kick off 2025, I'm energized by the momentum of community building I witnessed last year, and even more excited about what's ahead. One example: The evolution of ZeroMils' Military Thriving initiative in Hampton Roads. What started with a dynamic launch at the Hive in Virginia Beach, grew through a national Change Forum at Georgetown University, and continues to expand. 🎯 Mark your calendars! On January 14th (9:30 AM - 2:30 PM) at William & Mary for "Anchoring Growth and Change" - a collaborative convening that brings together: • Local Government Leaders • Corporate and Nonprofit Partners • Regional Economic Development Centers • State and Local Chambers • Veteran Employment Centers • Higher Education Institutions This isn't just another meeting - it's a testament to what happens when we intentionally create spaces for connection and action. The day will culminate in a meaningful remembrance walk with wear blue: run to remember, embodying our commitment to both honor and action. The ripple effect of these connections continues to amaze me. When we bring people together with purpose and intention, we don't just solve immediate challenges – we build sustainable networks of support that keep growing. 👥 Are you part of the Hampton Roads community or interested in military family retention initiatives? Register to join us on January 14th as we work together to create a thriving military community. https://lnkd.in/eU76AW-J #MilitaryThriving #HamptonRoads #CommunityImpact #VeteranSupport #MilitaryFamilies #Collaboration

One of the reasons why we do what we do at Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble This indeed made our day! To know more about us, check out the link below: https://lnkd.in/dkejemAh
A simple and beautiful example as to why communities are important 👇🏻 A new parent in our Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble community recently shared that their unborn baby will have a cleft lip and palate. With support and determination, they’ve chosen to embrace the journey ahead. I was glad to see this message in the morning, it's an affirmation of the message we're trying to convey about Sirat and what people can expect. Sirat exists to ensure that families facing cleft know they're not alone. We connect parents with a supportive network, expert advice, and resources to navigate this path together. Help us reach more families—contribute here or share this post to spread the word. Contribute to the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/gXgWXwB8

#Working with #youth is very #exciting and certainly never a dull moment. While for most completing school it's imperative to have a job as most homes need the additional #income. Once the youth find #jobopportunities more than often they get into a comfort zone and find it tough to #furthereducate themselves. This is a cycle I am all to familiar with myself. I enjoy our 121 sessions to sit and gain their insight as to why they working, what is the #shorttermplan, #longtermplan and my favourite when we establish a #personaldevelopmentplan specific for the #individual. One youth really really wants to be a firefighter. His #maingoal is to work to #help the #family for next 18months and in this time get ready to sign up for Firefighter. The group chuckled as we in a call center right. Told the team to hang on we open to hear from each one. He was shy and i assured him a session later to discuss more. Later on he opened up, his heart was made up 4yrs ago when a shack in his area was alight. He saved an elderly man and his dog, the firefighters gave him a special thanks as the #firetruck couldnt reach in time. He never forgot that feeling of #fulfillment and kept dreaming about being a firefighter. He doesnt know any firefighters and wouldnt know where to begin to get more #information. He recently got access to a smart device and needed support to navigate. We spent time searching and found the #Firefighteropenday and the Volunteer Wildfire Services, they hosting a fundraiser this Sunday https://lnkd.in/erxhMkpF He was ecstatic and gave me #biggesthug ever. He was super chuffed that I acknowledged his #dream #preciousmoment 100% #commitment #motivation to #KPIs in the timeframes and with excellent customer care. His going to #rescue those customers, put out all the #escalations and take #bonus home every month #livehisbestlife Taking the time to understand their why, then work out when they plan, to do what they truelly want to do and how, makes a high impact. #BPOIndustry has been a lifeline for most and whilst each one is #happy to be #employed let's never forget the #dreams and #aspirations. #leaders #engage #connect #knowtheirwhy #listentounderstand #settingexpectations #coaching #121matters #lovewhatwedo #aspiretoinspire #howtotrainafirefighter It's #International #FirefighterDay 04 May 2024. Let's honour these heroes and celebrate the lifelines they have provided. Let's raise awareness to those aspiring to become #firefighters of opportunities such as #whatsonincapetown this Saturday at #athlonestadium #firefighteropenday meet and greet these heroes and ask all the questions you have to understand what you need to do to join. https://lnkd.in/eBdDKYBu https://lnkd.in/eYuTKuWt

Love the commitment to action. First: listen to the perspectives and experiences of the people you’re designing for. Next: commit real resources to test those ideas. Future: scale up what works.
High impact collaborative executive public sector leader with proven track record of leading large scale change within complex systems in collaboration with our community partners and residents.
Amazing things start to happen when young people voices and needs are centered in creating programs that are aimed at supporting them. Kudos to ECMC Group, GREATER MSP Partnership and others for creating a space to hear youth and then taking ideas to action. This Co-Lab is one of the strategies that is being tested. I am grateful to serve as an advisor to the work and increase connections in our community. And I am thrilled that City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County is home to this pilot!

Hi Morgan No we are not Proud of Mayor Lucas. Repealing NEW ORDINANCE TO CODE BOOKS ORDINANCE NO. 230401 Amending Chapter 3, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Section 3-431, “Setting Goals for Individual Contracts” and enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter regulating the application of numeric MBE/WBE goals on certain projects leased for development or receiving economic development incentives or tax abatement. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY: 2. Ignoring the letter from The Kcmo Fairness Board Chairman & Fairness Committee regarding Civil Rights violations ? Harrasment of minority contractors ? inadequate reporting from Kcmo CREO department ? No Disparity report for 9 years and more ? 2016 Disparity Report below: Department of I think 1.2 minority [participation] and 2.5 WBE [participation], when there was adequate availability of minority and women contractors to meet the City’s standard kind of goal of 15 [percent] and 7 [percent]. They’re diluting the opportunity for minority and women contractors when it comes through the statutory business development organizations, all of whom have different sets of rules..… There ought to be a uniform code that is incorporated in all the development agreements which people in our community never see.… There’s a disconnect. And I realize they’re trying to change some of that now but the insulting part of it was there was more money spent through statutory agencies last year for contracting activities than there were through City departments.… It’s obviously developer driven. By the time we see it the development agreement has already been executed. Caused lack of capital for Jackson County schools and libraries. Mayor Lucas and Insult to African Americans everywhere?
Grateful to Quinton Lucas for the opportunity to serve my community and for the strong trust we’ve placed in each other since day one. We’ve accomplished a lot the past five years, and I hope we’ve made Kansas City proud. Under the mayor’s leadership, I know our City government will remain bold, caring and creative. How special it’s been to be part of it all. Reid Day, you’re up next! We’re all rooting for you.
