Looking for a ServiceNow PDI project to build that's based off a real world-pain point? Here are the broad strokes: 1. Description: System Log Send via Email Notification Scoped Application 2. Acceptance criteria (what "done" looks like): - As a user in group “Sys Log Admin," I get an email that includes all the system logs of type “error” via an email notification - As a user in group “Sys Log Admin," I receive the email at 11:59 pm daily. 3. Tips: - Use scripts (BR, a scheduled job, script include, etc) to pull logs in the body of the email or work on attaching logs to the notification via other means (sys_attachment table, potentially...) - think about how you could use gs.eventQueue() specifically along with with a notification or email script - Going with a script action and a script include that creates the notification via GlideRecord .insert() is also an option / path here! Good luck! If you have any questions, let me know via a comment or DM! If you want more content like this, I'd encourage you to join our 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙂𝙤-𝙂𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 (link in first comment). This is such an awesome feature!! Providing roles to users for a temporary period without having to revoke it manually. This feature can definitely be used for multiple scenarios.

🤩🤩🤩ServiceNow Washington release feature🤩🤩🤩 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞-𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 This feature from the release is a personal favorite of mine. It brings back memories of when I developed a similar functionality for a client back in the day. 🛠️💡 Here's the more details about it: A time limited role enables you to give a specific user a role for a limited period of time. For example, if you want to give a user an admin role for a day, time limited user roles offer an easy way to create and manage such assignments. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 1. Navigate to Time Limited Roles module. 2. Select New. 3. Fill in the forms fields 4. Agree! First approach should always to check if can be achieved via configuration change.. scripting should be the last option to go for a no-code/low-code tool.
I have seen people writing #ServiceNow scripts even when it is not necessary. It is not recommended by ServiceNow. The question remains the same. Why do we really need scripting if the same can be achieved via configuration changes? And this is something which we should always focus on before starting to write the code. Yes there are numerous instances where things cannot be achieved without scripting. I am not talking about those which cannot be avoided. ServiceNow has already taken a step towards low-code or no-code environment more aggressively. So we should think about it. And not only that, it will help during the upgrades as well. Let's say we are writing a business rule on Incident Task table. We can dot-walk in the conditions section via referenced parent(Incident) field. This can surely avoid some queries. Similarly we can set some values in there via configurations. A simple process. A good practice. A time saver. And this is just a small example. There are so many things which can be achieved by doing this. Let's put this into practice. Follow me (Syed Taha Kamal Ahmad) for more updates like these.

Have you ever been working on a project in ServiceNow only to realize, "Oh no...I forgot to change what update set I'm working with..."? Don't lie. Of course you have. So, what do you do to correct that? I set out to solve that exact problem and to show you all a very easy solution I came across that will help you save time, especially if you've been making A LOT of changes and only realized it too late. All of that said, I wanted to show you what this looks like in practice. Credit to the original solution provider: https://lnkd.in/dVZYc-Av #servicenow #servicenowdeveloper
