Members of our Executive Leadership team have had the privilege of meeting with ministers, departments, and agencies from both state and federal governments in recent weeks. These engagements have been a fantastic opportunity to showcase our Hemi Gold Project and the significant economic and social benefits it brings to the region, state and the country. We are always grateful for the chance to engage with government leaders and appreciate the positive reception as we continue to advance Hemi. #DEG #HemiGoldProject #GovernmentRelations #StakeholderEngagement

I am grateful for people like Daniel Claassen and his team at Future Cities Africa who celebrate excellence in local government leadership. While I love a good technical book, I find the books that have helped me grow the most over the years are books like That Will Never Work by Marc Randolph, or The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz. These stories of real people going through real challenges, and sharing their experience, have had a much greater impact on me than all the technical How-To books on strategy or leadership. Listening to or watching the Future Cities podcasts opens a window into the challenges faced by some of local government's great leaders and thinkers and how they overcome these challenges. These stories help to raise up a generation of leaders to ensure that Africa's cities of the future are sustainable, well-governed, and prosperous. As Isaac Newton famously said: "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." Dan, thanks for making the shoulders of giants more accessible for others to stand upon. #africa #cities #leadership

On 30th April 2024, the newly minted Chartered Institute of Arbitrators - Zambia Branch Committee met for it's inaugural meeting. Key business of the day was for Immediate Past Chair James Banda to pass on the baton to newly elected Branch Committee Chair Nakasamba Tikambenji Banda-Chanda It was heart warming to behold as a seamless process of succession unfolded. Congratulations to both as well as to the Committee members who must now go about the task of convening the respective Committees of the Branch. Confident that ADR will flourish under the Committee's diligent watch. Inevitably, the business of the day triggered latent musings on leadership. A few to share with you my reader are the following: 🧭 One does not require a title or a mantle to lead. If one apprehends a vision and motivates/supports others to attain it, then one provides leadership. 🪑The seat of power must be cautiously aspired for and humbly occupied with a view to maximising good for all. If the motivations are not to serve others, one should not ascend to the seat of power. 🌬️🍃 While leadership endures, perhaps changing form with time and place, power is transient. One must appreciate that they receive the baton for a season and must run their best race in that season. The season will soon end. 💡The imperative of succession planning. If a leader has not put mechanisms in place that ensure that the baton will be successfully passed on, then that leader has failed. One must have one eye on the present but the other on the future for continuity. ⏳Writing a legacy. It is useful to have a clear sense of what one's contribution to the collective endeavour will be at the end of one's time in the seat. Being purposeful to have meaningful impact that (hopefully) outlives you is quite a prize. In my view, this is true if one invests in the improvement of people's lives. That is a legacy worth it's weight in gold! Speaking of which, let me be off and work on my own succession planning! 😅 #musingsonleadership

Famous Project Manager: Jean Chrétien 🍁 Jean Chrétien, the former Prime Minister of Canada, once said, "The art of politics is learning to walk with your back to the wall, your elbows high, and a smile on your face. At Acute PMC, we help clients navigate complex project environments with grace under pressure. 😌💪 As Prime Minister, Chrétien oversaw major projects like the implementation of the Canadian Firearms Registry and the negotiation of the Kyoto Protocol. 🔫🌿 What strategies do you use to maintain resilience and adaptability on your projects?
