On 23 July 2024, our Construction practice hosted another successful client seminar, in which Partner Justin Yuen and Associate Arthur Tang, spoke on the topic “Compensation Events in NEC Contracts”. During the seminar, Arthur explained the main payment options of the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC), followed by Justin who further provided valuable insights on the identification, management, and assessment of compensation events under NEC4 Contract. They also shared with the participants how to apply the principles in case studies. Do you know what type of delay analysis the NEC contract requires? The NEC contract requires the contractor to maintain an up-to date program with the time and cost impact of a compensable event to be determined at the time of the event. The automotive industry as an integrated value chain working in a coalescent manor globally providing a product that is clearly differentiated, in that it replaced the horse. Once the 100,000+see a similar differentiation offered on a platform of attainment, product -based solutions can be fully embraced. As for 23 seconds off the line, there are 3 ways. 1. Super facilities outfitted with the robotics the automotive sector enjoys, arguably this notion is being worked-up, however unlikely to be attained in the 5 years only to find passing the challenge downstream may not have been such a great initiative, in isolation. 2. Extend the number of facilities offering the same, expanding the 23 seconds not sure the number of external UK facilities would be needed say takt time 45 minutes that’s 117 right there, the coordination is a secondary challenge. 3. A solution that provides a route to those 100,000+ to have access to product-based solutions in a format of choice globally sourced converging either through an intermediary process or direct to equipped sites, choice how many volumetric vs how many variations of component builds, pulled from onsite capacity and capability. Product important, Process Critical.

NEC contracts provide different pricing options to suit each client’s and project’s requirements. Three commonly used main options in NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) are Option A (priced contract with activity schedule), Option C (target contract with activity schedule) and Option E (cost reimbursable). This article by Jane Crees, Sharpe Pritchard, provides guidance on the different pricing options. Read more: https://lnkd.in/euSuuTjU #cost #contract #projects

It is better to familiarize with NEC contract no matter NEC3 or NEC4. For those working as resident site staff such as Quantity Surveyors, they are responsible to assess payment based on NEC contract such as whether the cost is a disallowed cost. Hence, with good start of learning NEC contract, it would be greatly help us to be a competitive quantity surveyor. #nec #quantitysurveyors
In this article, Richard Patterson, Mott MacDonald, provides guidance on getting started with NEC contracts. He suggests that new NEC users might consider starting out with low-risk, low-value construction or consultancy contracts using the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ECSC) or NEC4 Professional Service Short Contract (PSSC).
