We believe capacity building is at the epicenter of organizational effectiveness. Yet historically in our sector, it hasn’t worked as well as it should. It’s expensive – each org has to figure it out for themselves – and typical “white paper” offerings often don’t take into account the practical complexities of how nonprofits will implement in the real world. Each year, in collaboration with our members, we create a series of cohort-based Capacity-Building Program Tracks designed to solve for these challenges. By looking across our 100+ member orgs, we work to understand what the most urgent capacity building priorities are in our community, and then design deeply responsive, high impact programming. This programming is: 1️⃣ Included in our membership fee with no additional cost to member orgs, enabling more leaders to do more of it. 2️⃣ Done in cohorts, so that peer learning and accountability are built in, enabling leaders to understand all the ways these same needs and challenges show up across our sector. 3️⃣ Explicitly designed not as a “white paper,” but a series of practitioner-led sessions resulting in a co-created blueprint that leaders can take back to their orgs, ready for implementation. This is certainly an exciting time for Santa Clara University as we head into our new strategic plan called Impact 2030. Our graduate programs are certainly part of this plan as we look to build new ones with the help of SCU Online and the six other graduate schools and college. In particular the graduate programs are under the Solutions for the Universal Good Priority. GOAL 3: Grow enrollment in, and expand the prominence of, our graduate and law programs, to strengthen our impact on Silicon Valley and beyond Initiatives include: Adapt existing, and develop new, graduate and law programs in response to changing needs of employers Bolster graduate and law student financial and other support, and increase completion rates and placements with the most desirable employers in the Silicon Valley and beyond

"In case you missed it. Dr. Laura Dresser, the keynote at the recent Women’s Fund Spring Luncheon, spoke brilliantly of the movement of women into the workforce over the last few decades, with Wisconsin having one of the highest percentages of women in the labor market. She describes how the shift of women working outside the home, expanded the “care economy," including child care, elder care and other service/support sectors. The lack of public investment in these however, has resulted in further inequities for women, who may represent the majority of these workers. The participation rate for women in Wisconsin’s workforce is dropping as many have no choice but to assume greater shares of care work for their families. So many in the audience truly connected with the issues she described. Follow more from Dr. Dresser at High Road Strategy - https://highroad.wisc.edu. The Women’s Fund current funding priorities include access to child care, behavioral health and financial security for women- all intertwined in the elements of Dr. Dresser’s work. Follow the Fund @ cfcwi.org Women’s Fund.
