Great post! The main problem with these ads is they commoditise life insurance and make consumers think of it like any other type of general insurance they might take out. But life insurance is never a product that should be “sold” (recommended) on cost alone. How much is your life worth to you and those around you? £6 a month? It’s great that you’ve posted this because I totally agree and think adverts like this, whilst they may drive people not currently protected to take some form of protection (which is always better than having none at all) they also probably do more damage than good by getting consumers to think of protection as a “cheap” “off the shelf” product that should be bought on price “from as little as…” and not on needs and true value. I always think the ** that are included on the pricing should not drop down to say £5 a month is based on a 20-year-old non-smoker for £20k over 10 years but should say **Don't take this level of cover it will not be right, speak to an adviser. That would be nice right?
