Founding Funeral Director at Thereafter.uk Specialist in bespoke funerals fit for today socially and environmentally

Great to be back with the bright minds at Kings College London discussing our natural destiny. As a part of the Social Science and Technology unit for the 3rd year running it was a privilege to present, promote and provoke conversation on our funeral options available today and the effect of our natural destiny on the planet - It would appear the environmental effect of dying is not one naturally questioned, clearly there's a lot more work to be done here - As we question what the funeral really is here in the UK we have to question what are our needs as a society. As modes of communication have changed and continue to evolve we raise the bigger question of does the funeral matter? Following yet another heartfelt celebration of close to 200 guests, affirmation of my belief in the incalculable benefit of the strength and support of the shared experience of death and loss feels quite deep. As the landscape of the funeral is changing perhaps it is time for some serious current research to dig deeper into the what we do, how we do it. The funeral landscape has changed but are we really looking after our future selves? #futurethinking #sustainability #sociocultural #question #rethink #funerals #makinganexit Lucy Clay
