Unity in Diversity: What We Can Learn from the Olympic Spirit The tragic events in Southport have sparked a wave of violence and unrest, leaving communities feeling deeply divided. In contrast, the Olympics in Paris have shown a powerful display of unity amid competition, highlighting the potential of coming together, even in rivalry. Returning to the UK after a decade in Australia, where I worked with the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, I've seen firsthand the impact of creating spaces where people feel heard. In a world where some leaders are encouraging chaos and division, it's time for us to come together and find unity in our diversity. Our work at Morris Hargreaves McIntyre increasingly focuses on inclusivity, diversity, and intergenerational engagement. Cultural spaces play a crucial role in uniting communities and encouraging dialogue, offering platforms for meaningful conversations and reflections. I’ve always admired Manchester’s history of resilience and unity. As we navigate these challenging and divisive times, supporting and engaging with communities, places and spaces is vital. Let's continue to lead by example, using our shared cultural experiences to build a more connected and inclusive community. #Unity #Diversity #Inclusion Image: RiotpartyUK

Combining passions for Sport, Business and Teaching, I want to provide high school students with a unique opportunity to learn about the exciting and growing world of Sports Business.
I am a Manchester United fan and a fan of Ben Foster and Fozcast - The Ben Foster Podcast (and Tom Ochoa whose comment put this in my path) - - which was my introduction to Mark Goldbridge and his work. Unbeknownst to me, my teenage son already knew Mark and was consuming his content from here in the US. Community that Mark references below is so important for everything we do. If you try to create for everyone, you really create for no one. Create the work that you love and that you are passionate about. Find the audience that will come along with you because they like what you stand for and they appreciate your work. Even when that audience grows - stay true to yourself. What a great example to have a community show up in a unique way for a unique event to watch along together and share the experience of a Super Bowl in the UK in the dead of the night! Sports Business Classes - - Consuming sports through nontraditional channels is here to stay. Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, and other outlets are allowing viewers a sports experience that builds and serves a specific community. What are the advantages of this alternative experience, like the Watch-Along below? What could larger broadcasters learn from it? How have some broadcasters already altered their approach? What are the risks in this approach? Finally - - One concept to throw in BARRIERS TO ENTRY. What are the barriers to entry to begin to create a community like Mark has? (Hint - not many barriers... but hard work, consistency, persistence, resilience, and some more consistency are pretty important along the way!) Community is hard to replicate The community we've built across That's Football and The United Stand Stand is arguably our biggest strength. Case in point, this is now the 4th year I've done a live watch along for the Superbowl and the engagement was astonishing. We never dropped below 10,000 live viewers. We trended as the number 1 livestream in the UK. The stream racked up over 300k total views. The strength of those numbers and the fact this is a totally different sport than normal for us, and the fact we were live between 11pm and 4am is testament to the engagement of our fans. I believe better community building is where rights-holders, brands and media entities of the future should be focusing their energy.

As a native Los Angeleno, born, raised, and raising our family here, I'm super excited for the world to see our city. Los Angeles is set to host the 2028 Olympics for the third time. As a result: → The city will use existing venues → The community's sports history will shine → No new permanent structures will be built And the end result? A focus on people first, creating a lasting legacy. So, why is this significant? Here are the 4 main benefits of the LA28 Games: 1. Equitable access to youth sports ↳ LA28 will invest $160 million in youth sports. ↳ This is the largest investment in California’s history. 2. Advancing inclusion for people with disabilities ↳ Los Angeles will host its first Paralympics. ↳ This will advance inclusion and accessibility. 3. Employment opportunities and economic benefits ↳ The Games will bring jobs to Los Angeles. ↳ The local economy will see a significant boost. 4. Community involvement and sustainability ↳ LA28 working groups will guide impact programs. ↳ Focus areas include local hire, workforce development, and sustainability. But, here's the good news... These benefits will ensure that the LA28 Games leave a lasting, positive impact on Los Angeles. #olympics #tomcruise #losangeles #la2028 #closingceremony
