🔬 Boosting girls’ interest in #tech is key to closing the gender gap in #STEM. A recent report by Sveriges Ingenjörer [Engineers of Sweden] by David Ekstrand underscores the urgency of increasing female enrollment in technology programs at the upper secondary level. 📈 The analysis reveals that if all municipalities had the same number of female applicants to the technology program as the top-performing municipality, Sweden would have up to 1,400 more women pursuing engineering education each year. 👩🔬 But why the disparity? Inspiration for Aspiring Women Engineers As we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day on June 23, it's crucial to recognize the challenges and triumphs of women in this field. The article "Women in Engineering Can Help Build a Better South Africa" is a powerful motivation for those considering engineering as a career choice. Despite the progress, many barriers still exist. Women make up only 13% of STEM graduates, and just 7% of engineers registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) are women. These statistics highlight a story of attrition and lost opportunities to develop our country’s youth. Let's acknowledge these realities and work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for women in engineering. Despite significant strides, the field still faces gender imbalance, especially in rural areas. 🌍💪 Many women in rural areas face stereotypes that discourage them from pursuing engineering careers. 🌟 Let’s break barriers and support women engineers in all regions! Investing in their potential not only empowers individuals but also drives innovation and progress.

What is the history and proportion of Women Engineers globally, in Africa, and in Kenya? I bet that tale is one of resilience, innovation, and breaking barriers.   By fostering an inclusive environment that values and supports women engineers, we can ensure a more diverse, equitable, and dynamic engineering landscape. Today I applaud and appreciate 1.    The women making a mark (big or small) in the broad field of engineering 2.    The men who have held the hands of these women 3.    The organizations that have provided safe spaces for the gender-specific peculiarities of any working female.

Despite initial skepticism about the value of digital education in a semi-urban setting, consistent results and active community engagement have won over local trust. Rupantor ICT Lab stands as proof that technological advancements can be as relevant and transformative in semi-urban areas as they are in cities. It is a model demonstrating how targeted initiatives can effectively bridge educational and digital gaps, fostering a more inclusive and empowered society.

#BeforeAndAfterWithSSETS A lot of activities happened, #Week6And7. 1. I formed my #MoneyCrewWithSSETS and brought in very Intelligent and focused academics with me in this journey. 2. I invited a #GuestLecturer Engr Evan Ekoh to impact my students on industry based principles and Practices during my #ImpactingStudentsWithSSETS and it was indeed an interactive session. 3. I prepared and submitted a #MoneyExcelSpreadsheet for top 10 International Funders in Environmental Engineering. 4. I prepared a #TrainingBrief for #ProfessionalTraining in Environmental Engineering and have also organizedto present the training on tge 21st of June 2024. 5. I prepared a #ConceptNote on Gender Inequality in line with one of the UN SDGs, researched on two current funding calls for the concept note, and sent an email to one of them for potential Partnership and funding. This is in line with Multidisciplinary approach in academics. it was a very busy week and am so grateful for all that I have learnt, and all I was able to impact on my students. Honestly, it was a worthwhile project. All these were made possible by constant updates and lectures recieved from Dr. Akanimo Odon supported by Dr Viola Akhigbe and my University Lead Chike Anibeze .
