Although women have made tremendous progress towards increasing their participation in #STEM disciplines, they are still under-represented in these fields. While we are proud that women make up 45 per cent of our workforce at #ARPANSA, we recognise there is still progress to be made. This United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we are reminded that women and girls play a critical role in #science and #technology communities and that their participation should be supported and strengthened. International Day of Women and Girls in Science is on February 11th. The gender gap in STEM fields is especially prominent. Empowering more young women with critical STEM skills, along with global competence, is essential if we want to create a more sustainable and equitable future. Through our groundbreaking Global STEM Changemakers Initiative, funded by bp, AFS is providing young women and girls with full-scholarship opportunities to engage in STEM and sustainability education, social innovation, and global competence development to create positive social impact. 🔬 International Day of Women and Girls in Science 👩🎓👩🏾🔬 Today, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of #womeninscience and in order to better understand their situation we would like to address the persistent challenges they face: ➡️ perception of barriers - female scientists often encounter more obstacles in career development compared to their male colleagues ➡️ work-life balance - struggles with balancing professional and family responsibilities are more common among women in science. ➡️ facing discrimination - gender stereotypes and discrimination in the scientific community still is present ➡️ supportive initiatives - highlighting the importance of mentoring programs, flexible career paths in order to increase self-esteem of women ➡️ need for improved working conditions and opportunities, aiming for a more inclusive and equitable scientific environment. Conclusions are coming from the #report by NCN National Science Centre based on survey performed on group of over ❗️ 5000 Polish scientists (link to full report in comm.)
