National Love Your Pet Day is February 20! Of course, we don’t really need a special day to love our pets. But so often, our lives become automated, and we forget to acknowledge our furry friends. We go through the motions of our everyday tasks; we stroke Whiskers behind her ears as we leave the room or toss a ball to Max as we dash out of the house. And we promise them we’ll play later. They’re part of the family, after all, and they’ll be right here when we get back. But then our phone rings, or dinner needs to be cooked, or the kids need to do their homework… Or worse—Rex got into the basket of clean laundry and left the clothes strewn all over the floor. He was just bored, but who feels like playing after that? 😿 So this is a reminder for today—and every day—to spend some extra time with the person who always makes time for you. (Yes, I just called your pet a person!) 5 Reasons your kids should grow up with a pet · Teaches them responsibility · Inspires compassion · Hones empathy by putting themselves in their pet’s paws · Soothes loneliness. Yes, children can get lonely—and sad—and confused as they struggle to make sense of the world around them. (Just like we do, even when we don’t want to say it out loud). · For the love, laughter, and sheer joy pets bring into our lives If you don’t yet have a pet, consider rescuing an animal. So many little souls out there are in desperate need of a loving home. #loveyourpet #petsarefamily #pets #rescue #dog #cats #healing
