Hi, I'm Lucy and I work at the Duluth Convention Center, and I know when you are planning such an event, there's always the question, what are my attendees going to do when they're not in their breakout sessions? And when you are at the deck, there are all kinds of things that you can do right here on our little campus. Attendees can tour the William A Irvin, which is just a beautiful piece of history in the slip. Right next to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, it is a historic flagship of US Steel. And because of that, it has all kinds of bells and whistles and beautiful dining rooms and all the things that people are interested in when it comes to this shipping industry we have here in Duluth. The Irvine was built in 1938 and it was put up in the late 70s. It retirement was kind of a surprise, so it was put up for the winter and just didn't go back out in the spring. But what that means is we have original everything and that makes touring this boat as special treat, particularly for those who are nautical mechanically minded or just, you know, like me, kind of nerdy. This worked out well because you can see the Vista. Coming in and the Vista fleet is located in our space at the Duluth Convention Center it's not run by us, but we definitely know everyone at the Vista very well and our our event people are happy to reach out to them and schedule a cocktail hour for your group or a sightseeing tour, even meals that you can do them out there, but certainly when the Vista takes you under the. Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge it's something to remember there are so many of the things to see on the urban and we have buzzed through just a couple but I wanted you to see this view because whether you are nautically minded or not, if you care at all about the incredible iron ore shipping industry in Duluth, this view just gives you such a sense of place you know that you are in Duluth when you're. There's Orbot and Lift Bridge. You see these really charming sailboats. And it just seems like that sense of place is something we're looking for and your attendees would really enjoy. Another thing that your attendees can do is whatever exhibit or showcase we have going on here at the Deck today. We have Barbie and it's a long exhibit at, but it's not always going to be Barbie. Of course, there are things like quilters, showcases and vintage snowmobiles. Archery. The list goes on and on, but it's something to keep in mind that a big place like the deck has a lot to offer. It's as easy as talking with your event person to ask what is going on at the deck and what sort of ticket add-ons you can have, because there's really something for just about everybody and things that are easy for your guests to attend. Just easy is easier. And there's a pink Barbie car. So whether you are doing events that are directly correlated with the deck or any of the things that are walking distance from a really lively Convention Center area, there is plenty to make your attendees feel like they have gone and done something special amid all the learning and fun that you have programmed for them too.
