Big news! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Currently, the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (COHSR) include requirements for the number of toilets that must be provided in the workplace per number of employees of each binary sex; no reference is made to count toilets that are not specific to sex… I am thrilled to see that the COHSR will be amended in the coming months to allow all toilets (including all-gender toilets!!!) to count towards the total number of toilets. Folks working in federally regulated workplaces will benefit from the availability of all-gender toilets that are not specific to sex or gender. #InclusionMatters

The new Health and Safety at Work Act, 2024, which was issued on the 9th of August 2024, by virtue of Act No. XXXIII of 2024 particularly focuses on the promotion and the safeguarding of the health and safety of workers at any workplace and applies to all sectors of work activity, both public and private, and includes work activities carried out by self-employed individuals. This article provides the reader with a better insight into the main duties of the respective bodies/ individuals responsible to sustain a proper level of safety of employees at their place of work.
