I am pleased to share our new publication in ACS Applied Biomaterials, a collaborative effort between the Slinker group at The University of Texas at Dallas and the Kuchta group at the University of Colorado Boulder. DNA origami involves folding DNA strands into specific nanoscale architectures, which is vital for applications like the bottom-up fabrication of nanosensors, nanochips, drug delivery systems, and actuation. In this study, we utilized alloxazine as a nucleobase surrogate on a 24-mer DNA duplex, attached to a gold surface via a thiolated strand, to demonstrate the redox-active switch behavior electrochemically. #DNAorigami #Nucleobase #DNA #redoxswitch

Our newest paper is out in JPC Letters: https://lnkd.in/eWZVtM2r (preprint version here: https://lnkd.in/eZY9kb8v). Using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations, field-theoretic simulations and random phase approximation modelling, we investigate the relationships between sequence, isolated chain conformational ensemble and phase-separation propensity in the context of intrinsically disordered protein condensates. The observed trends are rationalised by comparing inter- and intrachain contact patterns, and the utility of simple charge pattern metrics is discussed. Enjoy!
