🤩 Pyka has collaborated with Sierra Nevada Corporation to offer a large electric transport drone for US Department of Defense customers. For this initiative, the consortium will promote its “Rumrunner” unmanned aerial system, a version of Pyka’s 22-foot all-electric Pelican Cargo aircraft modified through SNC’s customization solutions. “We are excited to partner with SNC to bring our autonomous electric cargo UAS platform to DoD customers,” said Pyka CEO Michael Norcia. The Lithuanian Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence has signed contracts to procure different drone systems – small class surveillance uncrewed aircraft systems from a Latvian company Edge Autonomy, mini class surveillance drones from an Estonian Threod Systems, and micro class drones (quadcopters) from Deftools UAB. The procurements total to nearly EUR 36 million. Most of the drones will be delivered this autumn and the remainder – in early 2025. The acquisitions are implemented as a matter of urgency to strengthen the UAV capability and integrate it in the Lithuanian Armed Forces as soon as possible. All types and military dimension of combat systems and enablers are developed in the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Acquisition and integration of UAVs is among key priorities in the effort to have modern armed forces, therefore its development of gathering pace after 15 years of attention to the area. The Armed Forces is enabled with existing and further developed drone capabilities which will be integrated through a training system already put in place.

The production of UAVs is planned to increase almost 10 times this year compared to the previous year, said Vladimir Putin. "In total, about 140 thousand unmanned vehicles of various types were delivered to the Armed Forces in 2023. This year, the production of unmanned vehicles is planned to increase several times, or to be more precise, almost 10 times. In addition, the range of unmanned systems is expanding, unmanned boats are being created, <…> robotic platforms for multi-purpose use. 👀 Netline Communications Technologies (NCT) has unveiled a family of drone detection systems for elusive unmanned aerial systems. Signatures of an estimated 20 percent of current drones are not available in the database, making their detection difficult.
