This post got me thinking. What are equivalents in India to enduring product brands like Stanley LL Bean Outlet Lands' End The North Face, a VF Company etc. They have designed products that last a lifetime (or more). Some of them even had life-time return warranties on the product. Most of the action in India is on the "faster" side driven by Gen Z. After all we are still somewhat early in that brand evolution curve. What are some of the "enduring" - built to last product brands in India. Wonder when our market will get deep to build large brands here...#enduringbrands
Our Stanley thermos - it was purchased new in 1968. Still keeps coffee hot for 2 days. I say “our” because it’s somewhat of a family heirloom — it’s been passed down through four generations, so far … Lots of miles on it. A few dents. Some patena. Lots of work days tackled with it by our side. Of course gallons/liters of fresh hot coffee ☕️ through it too. Well designed product. Painted in “Battleship Boring” but very functional. In 2023, a Stanley mug, decorated in an array of hot colors and designs, is a coveted gift this holiday season! To think this was once a blue collar mainstay along with the Stanley classic lunch pail / lunch box is funny given how the trend now goes. What’s old is new again. All the Gen Y and Z must have a Stanley. I love it when great products and brands are renewed for the next generation ! Back to that old Stanley. I’ll bet it’s around for another 100 years! #stanley1913 #alladin #thermos #oldschool #cool #cooler #kelley #marketing
Deepak Gupta The philosophy of creating enduring products and fostering business growth often seems at odds. In the past, businesses crafted products with longevity in mind, providing users with items that instilled a sense of pride, lasting for extended periods, or even a lifetime. Isn't it? However, in today's rapidly evolving tech landscape, companies continually update their products, prompting users to seek replacements and newer models, often driven by the desire to match or surpass their neighbours' latest acquisitions. This dichotomy is pushing businesses to design products with a lifespan of no more than 3-4 years. Certainly, the way we utilize products has evolved, with the emergence of a significant business sector built around Annual Maintenance Charges (AMC), a concept that was not prevalent in the past.
