I don't have certainty on this but I've seen it alot and starting to wonder if this is the truth. The biggest reason why new hires don't work out, is because they didn't have enough clarity in the role and responsibilities. The reason why they didn't have enough clarity in the role and responsibilities is because you didn't tell them clearly enough. The reason why you didn't tell them cleary enough is because you, the employer, didn't have enough clarity in the role and responsibilities! You need to have it written down on paper. Even if you did it yourself when the you started the company so you "know" it. Transferring that information takes a whole new level of clarity!

A few things it will show you: - Whether they will be honest when it's hard to be honest (very important) - How they structure their thinking on problems and risk (potentially helpful) - What their concerns genuinely are (helpful in making your pitch to them)
