Originating from a concept popularized by legendary bands like Pink Floyd and The Who, Xylobands have evolved to become a pivotal part of the live concert experience, blurring the lines between performers and the audience. How Xylobands Work: ⬇ Communication via RF/IR: Employing radio frequency or infrared technology, Xylobands receive signals from transmitters placed around the venue, ensuring each band is part of the orchestrated light show. Microcontroller Magic: Embedded within each band, a microcontroller interprets the signals, dictating the colour and timing for the LED lights to match the concert’s rhythm. Interactive Visuals: Advanced features include motion sensitivity and audience interaction, allowing the crowd's movements to influence the visual display, creating a truly immersive experience. These two acronyms might sound like alphabet soup, but they represent fascinating dynamics that impact our daily lives. 1️⃣ MNOs - the giants striding across the digital savannah. They own the infrastructure and the secret decoder rings. When you think of MNOs, think of the rock stars of connectivity. They’re the headliner and ensure that your cat videos stream seamlessly 🐈 But delivering that show is not cheap as they invest a lot into #infrastructure. Sometimes they act like old rockers as bureaucracy slows down their guitar solos 🎸 2️⃣ MVNOs - the underdogs playing in cozy coffee shops. They don’t own the stage but lease space on MNOs’ stages to sing their hearts out 🎤 With this model they are very cost-efficient and can adapt quickly when #trends in #technology are changing. On the other hand they have only limited control to the networks and less possibilities to differentiate amongst #competition 🧑🎤 So, which concert do you attend? Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to witness Coldplay (another bucket list item checked) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as part of their "Music of the Spheres" world tour. The experience was not just a testament to their musical genius but also an impressive showcase of their commitment to environmental sustainability. From the first note, the concert was electrifying, both figuratively and literally. Coldplay's ability to captivate the audience was unparalleled, with each song creating a powerful emotional resonance. The band connected with every person in the stadium, uniting us (60,000 people) in a shared experience of music and passion. What truly set this concert apart was Coldplay's innovative approach to sustainability, particularly through the installation of kinetic floors. This groundbreaking technology transformed the energy of the fans' movements into electricity, literally powering the show. As we danced and jumped to the rhythm of the music, our movements were not just expressions of joy but active contributions to the concert's energy. This integration of sustainable technology was mind boggling and a reflection of the band's serious commitment to reducing their environmental impact.
