Adapting warships’ defenses to the 21st century’s threats In today’s rapidly evolving naval warfare landscape, the threat from unmanned surface vehicles carrying significant payloads is a critical challenge. These fast, low-profile vehicles, often used in swarms, can overwhelm traditional close defenses of surface vessels. Our response? The innovative VENOM LR and TRAKON 30 RWS systems. Developed by AEI Systems and UNIROBOTICS respectively—both proud members of the SYS Group—these systems are reshaping how ships defend themselves against coordinated saturation attacks by unmanned aerial and surface vehicles. The VENOM LR, a high-rate of fire 30x113mm revolver autocannon, and the TRAKON RWS, with its independent E/O suite and advanced targeting capabilities, offer a robust solution by enhancing ships' last layer of defense. Owing to the wide range of HE based ammunition types available and superior technical features, these systems neutralize threats quickly and efficiently, allowing ships' main defense systems to focus on higher-level threats. Anything that is three years away is effectively never. In the meantime, we should continue to work on developing unmanned vessels that can extend destroyer magazines in both depth and range. When the USV is empty, simply replace it with one that is fully loaded. US has decided to sell High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare (HAASW) sonobuoys worth $52.8 mn. These sonobuoys will help India’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities.🤝🏻🇮🇳🇺🇸 India had requested to buy AN/SSQ-53O High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare (HAASW) sonobuoys; AN/ SSQ-62F HAASW sonobuoys; and AN/SSQ-36 sonobuoys. The estimated total cost is USD 52.8 million.💰💸💸 Sonobuoys are air-launched, expendable, electro-mechanical sensors designed to relay underwater sounds to remote processors. These are effective and affordable antisubmarine warfare (ASW) that are capable of being used by airborne ASW warfighters.

Subsidiaries of Reading-based Cohort plc share £135m Royal Navy contract 💰🤝 The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded a new contract worth £135 million which will equip the Royal Navy with new decoy launchers to counter missile and drone threats. Picking up the contract are Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd (SEA) in North Devon, which has partnered with Chess Dynamics in West Sussex. Both are part of Reading-based Cohort plc. They’ll provide trainable decoy launcher technology to help protect Royal Navy ships and sailors, which can be operated without needing to alter course. The United States Marine Corps is planning to field three new mobile air defense systems by 2025 to enhance their capabilities against aerial threats. These systems include the Medium-Range Intercept Capability (MRIC), Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS), and Light MADIS. The MRIC, based on Israel's Iron Dome, will provide defense against cruise missiles and larger drones. MADIS and LMADIS, designed to fight in pairs, will offer counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) capabilities. The Marines aim to address the evolving threat landscape, but challenges remain in keeping up with the ever-changing nature of threats.
