Jessica Moss, who started her career at DLA in August 2023, received devastating news just a month later: she was diagnosed with highly aggressive triple-negative ductal carcinoma, stage II breast cancer. Thanks to the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program, a program that allows employees with extra leave time to donate it to others in need, and the incredible generosity of her coworkers, Jessica received the support she needed during her treatment. On June 12, 2024, she proudly announced she is cancer-free! Programs like the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program make a difference. When you see a call for help, consider donating leave—it could mean the world to someone facing their toughest times. 1wFirst, congratulations to Jessica for her courage and will to fight and win! May you continue to be blessed! Second, hats off to whoever thought to bring a program of such nature to the agency. That says a lot about the thoughtfulness of the leaders there. But truly, the hero’s of this story are the coworkers who gave their leave so Jessica could focus on her fight and not have to worry about income. This story is heartwarming and helps to restore our faith in HUMANity!
