DAWIA Update: Navigating the New Acquisition Professional Landscape As a staunch advocate for lifelong learning, I'm excited about the recent changes to the acquisition and contracting certification structure. However, nearly two years after the Department of Defense implemented its "back-to-basics" transition to a tiered Contracting Professional framework (https://lnkd.in/eRr284r5), there remains a disconnect. The Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) also modernized as of Feb. 1, 2023 (https://lnkd.in/ehuWbddS ). Many job descriptions and industry expectations still cling to the old DAWIA levels I, II, and III. This rebranding, while positive, has left some confusion in its wake. How do we, as now-unified "professionals," navigate an industry still largely anchored in the old system? The good news is that innovation rarely arrives without its bumps and adjustments. We can trust that, just as we value professional growth, the industry will adapt and embrace this updated framework. Open communication will be key in bridging the gap. So, companies and representatives, I ask: How receptive are you to the new "Contracting Professional" designation? What steps have you taken to update your internal processes and job postings to reflect the changes? How are you supporting your own acquisition professionals' development within the new framework?
