Digital twins technology, widely used in construction, manufacturing, and the energy sector is now gaining traction in the cultural heritage space. With the help of this technology, museums can create virtual replicas of their artifacts and physical environments, and thereby help to preserve their cultural treasures, enhance engagement with visitors, and make museum collections more accessible than ever. In my new article, I explore various aspects of this technology as well as some of the prominent use cases for digital twins in the cultural heritage preservation domain. https://lnkd.in/eRMSEzj2 #DataArtMedia #digitaltwins #3Dscanning #museums

PEST MANAGEMENT IN MUSEUMS #Insects are responsible for significant damage to #museum_exhibits, #historical_books and #buildings. Different types of insects attack different materials. A few common parasites are found in collections in Europe, but most of them circulate worldwide. AgroSpeCom uses the Integrated Pest Management (#IPM) approach in museums, identifying the most vulnerable #collections, implementing #preventive_measures and #monitoring. An additional part of the IPM strategy is the #training of museum staff on the main #pest_challenges. More information on the Museum's #pest_management can be found here: https://shorturl.at/Ehsha Watch our new #video here: https://shorturl.at/pN49S

🏛️ Captured in seconds Imagine a single room captured in minutes and an entire museum, gallery, or archaeological site in less than a day. This is the transformative potential of a 3D Virtual Tour (3DVT). 🤔 What if you could virtually visit a cultural landmark, an exhibition, or even a hidden gem—just like in the video? Would that spark your curiosity to explore the place in person, or even provide new ways to interact with the space? 💭 More than a tour: 3D Virtual Tours go beyond exploration. They offer powerful tools for: 🔸 Documentation: Preserving detailed, interactive records of cultural landmarks and exhibitions for academic research, restoration, and archival purposes. 🔸 Education: Providing immersive learning opportunities for students and professionals, from archaeology to history and beyond. 🔸 Training: Enabling virtual reality training environments for archaeologists, curators, and other specialists, offering hands-on practice without physical limitations. 🔸 Accessibility: Allowing anyone, anywhere, to experience spaces that might otherwise remain out of reach.
🏛️ Visiting a historic site like the Archaeological Museum of Olympia? Capture it in true 3D with SceneOpsis—just a smartphone and a few seconds. It’s as easy as photos but so much richer! Share your 3D captures to spark curiosity and inspire others! #3D #VirtualTours #CulturalHeritage #DigitalPreservation #MuseumTech #DigitalTwins

Day 10 #museum30 Observe. Observation is a powerful methodology for evaluating museum exhibitions. It complements other techniques such as interviews, focus groups and questionnaires because it reveals what visitors overlook, ignore, forget or choose not to mention. And it provides much more reliable measurements of dwell times than visitors’ self-report. #exhibition #exhibitions #visitorexperience #visitorengagement #exhibitiondesign #museums #museum #heritage #evaluation #heritage

Question for the #museum & #heritage hiveminds: can you recommend any audience research into the motivations & reactions of visitors to historic houses? There was an excellent study by Cadw (Barriers to visiting heritage sites 2022) and the equally excellent paper by Aileen Peirce ( “It Feels Like You Have Stepped Back in Time” 2020) but other than that I can find next to nothing. #museums #audienceengagement #visitorengagement #visitorexperience #audienceresearch
