In this week's episode of DEI After 5, I had the pleasure of chatting with Karishma Patel Buford, the Chief People Officer at Spring Health. We delved into some incredible insights on embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion into organizations. Here are three key takeaways from our conversation: 1. Embedding DEI as a Core Part of the Organization Karishma emphasized the importance of not treating DEI as a separate entity but integrating it into every aspect of the employee life cycle. By making DEI an integral part of the organization's culture, it becomes more than just a checkbox activity but a fundamental way of doing business. 2. The Power of Mentorship and Allyship We discussed the impactful mentorship program called "Sprout with Spring" in partnership with 10,000 Coffees. This program matches talent at Spring Health with senior leaders, providing invaluable guidance and support. Karishma highlighted the importance of mentorship in career development and how it can be truly life-changing. 3. Prioritizing Mental Health and Wellness Karishma shared personal insights on balancing work and family life, emphasizing the significance of being present with loved ones. She highlighted the importance of creating moments of presence and connection, especially in today's fast-paced world. If you're interested in learning more about how Spring Health is revolutionizing mental health benefits and fostering a culture of thriving, make sure to listen to the full episode TOMORROW at 5:15p ET. In today’s episode, we’re joined by Kate Wood, the Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness at Ernst & Young for the Asia Pacific Financial Services Sector, to share her story of how overcoming a health challenge has fueled her to advocate passionately for workplace wellbeing. Throughout the episode, Kate sheds light on the cultural balance in DEI and its impact on mental health and company success. We delve into mentorship, gender equity, and more taboo topics like menopause in the workplace, leading to the conclusion that when an organization commits to Diversity and Inclusion, it’s not just the workforce that flourishes—business thrives, and so does the human spirit within it. Is it really true that the client expects me to be available 24/7 or is it my implicit expectation? Or is it the partner's expectation that the client will not accept that I'm off a certain time?" I help practitioners express their unique healing style to deliver efficient, transformative care-- without burnout.
Overcommitting, overworking does not lead to more popularity, to more business success. It just means that you’re not discerning your internal boundaries well enough to give yourself that permission of space and time. When you neglect basic needs like snacks, rest, that derails productivity… Your productivity will actually decrease the more you try to squeeze that lemonade out of that lemon. It isn’t going to work. You need to have these routine cadences of breaks for your self-care. I help ambitious women leaders optimize their wellbeing & performance so they can level up in life and at work l 🎙️ Podcast Host of Unleash the Badass Within l Ex Spotify, Kry I (ICF PCC)
🎙️ New Episode Alert: Unpacking Perfectionism, Part 2: Root Causes, Client Stories & Effective Strategies 🎙️ The second part of the episode series is here 😉💪💥 It only took me 102 hours to produce 😂 😜 Kidding. But it did take longer than most episodes, maybe because this is a somewhat delicate topic that can be triggering. Perfectionism is such a common root cause for stress, anxiety, and performance challenges so there's a lot to gain by talking more about it. In this episode, I also share my former client Emma's story, how perfectionism impacted her life, health & career, and the work we did together during the program to reduce it. Now she is in a completely different place; feeling a lot better (more energized, relaxed & present) enjoying life more, performing better in her career, and with improved relationships with those around her. I hope you enjoy listening and please share it with a friend, sister, or colleague that you think will need it ❤️ Link to the episode in the comments. Always in your corner, Sofia PS. My 1:1 business is currently full, but I've created a waiting list and I'm also working on other options to offer in the meantime. If you are curious about exploring if we would be a great fit, just send me a DM and we'll find a time to talk. 😘 ---- ✨ I'm Sofia von Celsing, a Wellbeing & Performance Coach ✨ I help high-achieving women leaders reduce stress, improve sleep, boost confidence, and advance their careers. Mental health is a crucial aspect of our overall well-being. Acknowledging that it’s okay not to be okay is an essential step toward promoting understanding and compassion. While the phrase "it's ok not to be ok" sounds simple, its impact is profound. But for those suffering with mental illness, it doesn't always feel like it's ok. Shame, guilt and embarrassment are often feelings that accompany mental health challenges and prevent people from asking for the help and support they need. As the post below says, we hope that by sharing this video, we can encourage essential conversations regarding health and well-being. Everyone deserves support, compassion, and understanding, so they can find their voice and feel comfortable discussing their experiences openly. Well done Dez, Stephen and Craig for sharing their stories. #MensHealthWeek #leadership #culture #values
June 10th - 16th is Men’s Health Week 2024, when men are encouraged to share stories about their health and wellbeing, to put a difficult topic on the agenda, in order to help others. The truth is that health and wellbeing issues affect everyone, even those leading successful businesses, who from the outside might appear to have it all together. This short video features the experiences of three successful business leaders: Craig Weeks, Director of JCB Transmissions in Wrexham, Dez Derry, Founder, Serial Entrepreneur and Investor, and Stephen Somers, Co-Founder of Marketplace Superheroes, who were all guests on Season 1 of our Uncommon Sense podcast. As you'll see, they each shared similar personal challenges on their leadership journeys, and each emphasise the critical role that mental health, exercise and wellbeing has played in their lives, and in their businesses. We'd particularly like to thank Craig, Dez, and Stephen who shared their stories on our podcast in such honest detail, in the hope that they might help other business leaders in a similar position. We hope that by sharing this video, it normalises the sharing of stories, and creates some important conversations in your business relating to health and wellbeing. We also hope that business owners and leaders recognise that many of the challenges they might be facing are shared by others. #MensHealthWeek #Leadership #Culture #Values #Motivation Steve Harvey Heather Cheetham ACA Marlon Armstrong Olga Fahey Jon Cannock-Edwards Julian Hughes FIEP
