Finally! 🙌 As a keen observer of the Philippine #energy market for almost all of my professional research life, I have spent decades waiting for a fully connected, seamless power grid infrastructure for my country. Disconnected power grids is a barrier to energy security and stability in the Philippines, resulting in higher cost of electricity consumed and access challenges for vulnerable groups in society. Seamless transmission grids are also better for #renewableenergy development. It improves the grid's capability to accommodate more power supply generated from #solar, #wind. Thus, encouraging companies to build more RE power plants. With the Mindanao grid connected to the Visayas grid this interconnection will allow both grids to share power supply to meet power demand of households and businesses where it is at, at any given time. This power supply sharing capability would prevent a repeat of what Visayans had to endure in the first few days of new year 2024--rotating blackouts that lasts for several hours, a local economy at a standstill losing millions, and schools and hospitals unable to provide public services. Now that this massive undertaking is done, I hope the power systems operator will consider the digitalization of the whole power grid. Another massive undertaking, yet one that will drive the digital transformation and #sustainability transformation of the Philippine economy. 💡🌱 #enerytransition #sustainablecities
The project initially commenced in the 1980s but was abandoned due to implementation problems. In 2011, the systems operator revived the project by a feasibility study. READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/gTpg3Unm

🔔 Attention Balancing Responsible Parties in Amprion, Tennet, Transnet, and 50 Hertz Bidding Zones! 🔔 Today marks the deadline for the switch from traditional email exchanges to the AS4 communication protocol for all MaBiS EDIFACT messages, including MSCONS, PRICAT, and CONTRL. 📆 Key Dates: 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞: Transition to AS4 for MaBiS EDIFACT messages. 𝐁𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: All Schedule messages (Schedule, Acknowledgement, Anomaly, and Confirmation messages) must switch to AS4. As of February 1, 2024, it appears that less than a third of the required certificates for the AS4 protocol have been issued. The journey towards adopting AS4 has been challenging, with the certificate procurement process proving to be less than straightforward. Feeling overwhelmed or unsure about what these changes mean for you? You’re not alone. We’ve created a comprehensive guide focused on the German power market. This includes: Specifications of MaBiS EDIFACT Messages: Everything you need to know about the structure and purpose of these messages. AS4 Communication Channel: A step-by-step guide to adopt this protocol. / Stay informed, Stay Ahead

Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners (SIP) - An Alphabet spinout Investing in the Infrastructure Transition
Apologies in advance for spamming my LinkedIn network this week with all things Data Centers - this was a big week for SIP. Please disregard if this is not of interest. Here's a position paper we drafted outlining some of the core tenants of our thesis that simplifies the problem statement that led to the incubation (and yesterday's launch) of Verrus. The is not meant to be a technical white paper for those interested in the physics of the grid, the electrical and HVAC components as well as the software orchestration of the compute-aware energy-management systems that we are building. Perhaps we will publicly share more about the technical specs of Verrus in the future. If you get a chance, check out Verrus' website at https://lnkd.in/g8iiCaGR and check out the team (and advisory board). People like this don't leave their day jobs or come out of retirement to get involved unless they see something amazing to build together. https://lnkd.in/gpNubcyt

New webinar series "An hour for knowledge, knowledge for future” to be launched next week - join us on 19 March, at 10:30 CET I am pleased to announce a new webinar series “An hour for knowledge, knowledge for future”. The series aims to boost the gas distribution system operators' knowledge and to make them fit for new gases integration and adjustments of operations, flows and communications on our common path to decarbonization by 2050. The first webinar focuses on energy efficiency and waste pressure in the system and assesses the energy potential in the natural gas grids. An insight for TSO, DSO and systems integrators will be presented by our guest speaker Mr. Andrej Miljevic, Bsc Msc from MIDEX. DSO-g Coordination Platform was established to enabling the gas distribution system operators to exchange their experiences and challenges in everyday operations, regarding regulatory, technical, economic, environmental issues. The EU Green Deal, Decarbonisation agenda and very soon, new gas package introduce additional and different requirements to which system operators must respond. In this evolving architecture of energy and gas systems, sharing and increasing knowledge – about technical, conceptual, regulatory problems - plays an important role. The gas DSO perspective is the starting point for the webinar series. We consider the new series as an extended DSO-g Platform, open to all interested stakeholders, being other operators, policy makers, regulatory authorities, system users, gas producers, system integrators etc.. The plan is to hold webinars every second month, but as flexibility is the main characteristics of online life the final schedule might be subject to adjustments as we go along.
